Samsung Copied Whirlpool's Large Capacity Third Rack

Copying I mean, at the end of the day, isn’t everyone just copying Miele? They patented the original concept of a third rack, and now that patent has expired.

GE UltraFresh Vent System actually works!

Thanks for the info! That’s super disappointing. My laundry room is in the exact center of my single-level house, so I was hoping it was barely audible.

When did GE start to go bad?

“ The very beginnings of GE's fall was probably when Jack Welch became CEO in 1981.” With the possible exception of their jet engine business, this pretty much sums up where GE (insert business line here) started to go wrong.

GE UltraFresh Vent System actually works!

How loud is the venting cycle? Is it audible a few feet away? I’ve always been curious about this venting system (and now Whirlpool has come out with a competing implementation), but no one ever mentions if they’re noisy or not.

Newer Whirlpool washers known for control board failures?

Yes it’s relevant, but there’s something like four different threads discussing this same issue.

    Speed Queen Home 2025

Speed Queen has mostly been content to make minor tweaks to their lineup these past couple years. The big introduction last year was…a black TC5. The exact same machine, but black. I expect a similarly muted 2025. Maybe they’ll add a glass top option to their top loaders or something like that.

    Samsung 240 volt Vented Combo!

34 1/2” deep Interesting, but too deep for my laundry room. Maybe Samsung will make a more shallow version in the future (who am I kidding, of course they won’t).

Need Advice. Kenmore 80 Series Direct Drive Washer

It shouldn’t get any water inside. I ran my direct drive ion a full wash earlier today, and I just checked and the inside of the agitator is bone dry.

what brand would you love to see make a comeback in us canada and other countrys

Kenmore I know Kenmore still technically exists, but it’s a shadow of itself. It would be wonderful to have Kenmore back using high quality OEMs and just generally great products. Kenmore direct drive washers, anyone? Now that Sears is essentially dead it’s just a pipe dream and Kenmore will...

GE has launched a second, slightly cheaper, combo unit

https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-ENERGY-STAR-4-6-cu-ft-Capacity-UltraFast-Combo-with-Ventless-Inverter-Heat-Pump-Technology-Washer-Dryer-PFQ83HSSWWW Slightly smaller capacity (but same external dimensions), and a few less features than the original model. Clearly the original...

Conventional electric ranges: the phase-out begins?

At the very least, there will still be some conventional electric ranges available to landlords who don’t want to have to deal with the (real or imagined) hassle of dealing with tenant service calls that turn out to be related to pots and pans.

The Great Debate. Gas vs Electric Dryers

Quite specific to my house, but I would never own a gas dryer because of the bad venting situation I have. My laundry room is in the worst possible location: the exact center of the house. So the dryer vent has to snake its way down through the crawlspace and underneath the kitchen to reach the...

    New Whirlpool Front Load Washers

#14 Hmm, that’s fascinating. It’s actually in that Goldilocks size- 3.1 cu ft and 29” deep. Reviews don’t seem great though, but I don’t want to place too much emphasis on those.

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

That Appliance Insider guy has no credibility. He claimed Speed Queen was going to open a factory in Texas and start selling larger capacity top loaders this year. Obviously this hasn’t happened.

    New Whirlpool Front Load Washers

Speed Queen’s front loader is also really inefficient with its use of space. The body is only 27” deep, which is great…but the door protrudes out significantly (even while closed), and along with the drain hose the real depth is 31 3/8”. There’s just nothing between compact (by American...

    New Whirlpool Front Load Washers

33 inch depth And they keep increasing the depth- the last generation of Whirlpool front loaders was just under 32”. Seems like LG remains the only manufacturer making full size front loaders less than 31” deep. As someone with a shallow laundry room, this is the key specification I look at.

Bosch weighs offer for appliance maker Whirlpool

Growing up, we had one of those Kenmore 18” dishwashers in the basement. I always wondered who made it- I guess now I know it was Frigidaire. It was never an amazing dishwasher in terms of its performance, but it’s been very reliable. I think it’s still working.

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

Glass Lids Alliance has shown with the black washers that they’re willing to make small cosmetic changes if they think they can charge $100 more for it. Given how GE, Whirlpool, and all the other mass market brands are putting glass lids on their TOL top loaders now, it’s not unreasonable to...

    Kenmore 110.92060110 Washer

Here’s my 1989 80 series, which has a prewash and presoak in that area. I don’t know if it had the same timer though as that 60 series.
