    Rinsing Out Detergent Measuring Cups

Noooooo! That residual in the cap/cup is part of the measured dosage! I rinse my measuring device under the (toploaders) fill flume, or wipe it with one of the items.

    "The Last Word" – Whirlpool's 1961 Ultimatic - 16mm Film

There's a WP 1961-1965 service document available at AutomaticE (Manuals & Literature on the menu bar) that lists models for '61, '62, '63, and '65 with some references to porcelain cabinets on select models.

    "The Last Word" – Whirlpool's 1961 Ultimatic - 16mm Film

There were options for lower models with a full-porcelain cabinet. Our 1962 WP LJA32VW00 was all-porcelain. It had had the necessary settings of the time -- Normal & Gentle cycles; hot/warm, warm/warm, cold/cold; low, med, high levels; brush filter -- but was far from top-of-line.

There are tons of options in this board/platform. That's a good thing! although it may take some experiementation to get everything adjusted to-preference.

    "The Last Word" – Whirlpool's 1961 Ultimatic - 16mm Film

Many of the major manufacturers offered washer/dryer combos back in the day from the 1950s into the 1970s, and some (most?) early models were condensing dryers (didn't need venting) that used a cold water spray and heat exchanger to condense the moisture and drain it away. Bendix pioneered...

What is the usage of the +Quote (Toggle multi-quote) function? It drops a momentary flag "Message added to multi-quote" (or "Message removed from multi-quote") ... but then how does one make use of that?

    Maytag Neptune TL FAV9800AWW

FAV6800 has Super Wash which tumbles continuously. All the other cycles have pauses in the tumbling. FAV9800 also has Super Wash as one of the eleven basic cycles so I imagine it does the same.

What is the maximum size for attached/displayed photos in px? Robert's coding resized too-large photos to 900px maximum on the largest dimension.

    Unusual ~1940s sears kenmore washer

It's an early WP-built bolt-down toploader. The mechanism/tub isn't mounted to a hanging/oscillating support so the machine must be bolted to the floor.

ISO Maytag Neptune MAH6700AWW washer control board

9700, 8700, 6700 were sourced from Samsung. Many parts are NLA. Have you checked eBay? Or searched for board repair services that may handle that one?

Picture of the day and patent of the day

Patent of the Day is (was) a library of .pdf files, patent registrations for primarily washers and related technology but also a few other things. A link on the home page, random daily rotation.

There was mention that adding Picture of the Day is under investigation. Nothing thus far on Patent of the Day.

That's odd. The full Forums list page has been accessible for me since day 1 via clicking the word Forums on the top navigation bar. ETA: The Forums list page also (currently) opens as the default for automaticwasher.org. I don't recall if perhaps it didn't at the beginning while...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Panasonic ... I have a Panasonic plasma display panel (technically it's not a TV, it doesn't have a tuner or speakers) that will be 23yo at end of September 2025. A Roku stick and a DVD player are connected to it via an HDMI A/B switch and an HDMI-->component converter. The bedroom TV is a...

What were your childhood interests in appliances, machinery, etc?

My mother claims that my fascination with washers began when the paternal grandmother (step-grandmother, dad's mother died when he was 15) was babysitting me (I don't know what exact age but probably not more than 4) and showed their vintage WP toploader to me while it was running (agitation...
