    Are self checkout lanes rare?

I've never had much of an issue with self-checkout lanes.  They've become more commonplace as the cost of wages has either increased or been threatened.   Home Depot rarely has more than two manned lanes open.  I try to use them, but when faced with a soccer mom with a cartload, I default to...

Frigidiare Unimatic WO-65 - near Cincinnati

Hopefully, the person that got this will show up.  I do know that there are a number of members that are in the shadows.  Just a look around here will make some people wonder if they want to be involved or not.   I used to think Vacuumland was full of members of questionable tack.  Now it...

Letting items cool before putting in fridge

It's not just the increased load on the refrigerator.  Sometimes you wouldn't want the condensation that would result.

What we as collectors are up against...Viking wringer washer $350

Louis,   You're absolutely right.  I tend to collect things from the late 1920's-WWII.  It's a shame to see so much of this stuff available and to few takers.   If you didn't grow up with or weren't exposed to this stuff you likely don't want it.  I can't wait to see someone try and restore...

Vintage Monitor GE Refrigerator - $475 (whitefish bay)

I think I've seen that one before.  I sent an email to him and offered to buy parts of it.  Freon, lol.  That baby's so2 and stunk like hell.

That's an 11 cu ft cabinet with a wartime replacement FEA unit.  Where are the legs?

    I Think Vivian's Getting Desperate

Phil, The vintage appliance collector market is tiny, especially for large appliances. I've done my best to mother over the monitor tops, but more escape me.

What we as collectors are up against...Viking wringer washer $350

Paul,   The internet is a double edged sword.  It's because of it that we have easier access to vintage things.  It also gives sellers quick access to dealers of these things and plenty of misinformation.   I often get a chuck at antiqueappliances.com.  The reality is that the restoration of...

GE Wall Oven year and Value?? HELP!!

Very little value, but thanks for trying to save it.  Many would just toss it into a dumpster and be done with it.  I would post it and anything else you have on Craigslist.  You might find someone that has another or is doing a vintage kitchen.

    Amana RR-10A FREE!

In my opinion, the later models with knobs were ugly.  I don't use a microwave.  I just wanted one to show that I have one.  You know, when a normal person comes in and comments that they couldn't live with a microwave.

Beautiful Westinghouse refrigerators.  There's no chance of them selling for those prices.

Supreme Court Upholds Consumer Ownership Rights To The Stuff They Buy

It's a good ruling.   The world needs less lawyers in general.  From what I see, the desire to have more for less is a universal human trait.

I must stop looking for stuff

I went out and picked up all the boxes of piano rolls to go with this new piano. I spent the better part of the day annoying the neighborhood.

Vintage Finds Online: Part Twenty Two

The flat top units were all made in the 1940's to replace the older units.  That's an older cabinet with the wood breaker strips.  It would have had a DR3 unit like I have in the kitchen.   Flat top units run great, but lack the sex appeal of the round units.

Vintage Finds Online: Part Twenty Two

Ken,   That's a 17 cu ft 3 dr cabinet circa 1928-30.   I'll post the link where it will get more attention.  I have had one of those once.  It felt like you were next to a bank safe.
