    NIB Kenmore refrigerator.

My Porsche 928 has that design: aluminum bores with iron-plated pistons :) The Cadillac HT4.1 had iron liners (and like the Vega iron heads)...

    19yo Plasma Panel

I was just given several BPC era CRT TVS,one a 19" magnavox from 2003. I will keep ones that are 100% and junk the others. :)

    19yo Plasma Panel

worse reliability LCD TVs i noticed were the Funai brands: Emerson,Sansui,etc.-saw a couple of those go bad while on display at Wal Mart: glitching display, dead lines, green stripe. Staff had so little pride in what they were selling, these bad TVs would remain in place and on for days...before...

    Heads Up! SQ Washer

I have a couple early 1980s SQ Marathons: an '82 with porcelain tub and an '84 with stainless tub-noisy and a little crude, but effective :) nowhere near the fit and finish quality of an older DC Maytag, but those are a high standard in that regard.

    19yo Plasma Panel

I think plasma TVs were sold from about 2002-15,for a while they were the only flat screen with a fast response.I remember reading about experimental plasma TVs in Popular Science about 1986. I recently added a 55" Sanyo plasma from ~2011 to the TV fleet-have not tested it out yet.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

I have never seen one in person, but there were some big early '80s boom boxes that could play a 12" record vertically.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

that is a large, complex boom box-8" woofers? D-cell batts? 1983? :) I have around 6 boomboxes: 2 good size ones, A Sharp from around 1980 and a Magnavox from '85. a small one worth noting is a Russian one made in 1995-all Russian parts. My biggest music machine is an AMI jukebox from 1976,loaded...

    car feature subscriptions...

Seek and scan radio was a cool feature in the '79 Park Avenue For cars affected by this features subcription phenomenon, think of buying a smartphone and then buying apps to set up the device to your liking...features are built into the car-just extra cost subscription to unlock them...

    car feature subscriptions...

... seems with certain new cars you can pay to unlock features built into the car you bought-extra horsepower, special interior lighting, and other doo-dads... several decades past are the days of checking off options such as radial tires,fm radio,v8 engine, automatic transmission, etc. :)

    FD stacker, FL, 2006

just got this: 27" stack set-have tried yet, seller stated dryer works good, washer does not work. Washer does turn nice and looks to be classic "small door" design. Clean, low miles :) GLEH1642DSI . any comments before I dig into this for a fix ? 12/05 build,so almost imperial :)

    Vintage Toshiba washer

I used to find these jap twin tubs at the dump in 1982-83 and they were a prize find for a kid. Rubber hoses under the skirt cracking was a major problem-somehow hoses would react to plastic fittings they were clamped to and get brittle there. Machines by Matsushita,Sanyo,Hitachi,Brother were...

    Worst *New* dishwasher available?

i used to think Frigidaire was the worse-cheap little brushed dc motor and about 100% fail rate door switch, but i do not know if they wash ok.In all the bad FD dishwashers i have junked, the PMDC motor was in decent working order though. PM "wet rotor"dishwasher pump motors seen to only last...

Window fans, do you use them in the cooler months?

my mom still uses a Marvin twin window fan i bought her in 2001-it was the only US made fan besides Vornado I could find at the time. The Marvin has two~8" stamped metal fan blades and the whole fan is turned in the window for intake or exhaust.

    American tube radios...

I told him no suprize that rectifier tube got hotter than the other tubes-it was a #80,quite substantial rectifier for the size of radio.

    American tube radios...

Guy at work got his '30s GE radio and has not gone well so far: radio hums loudly from speaker, does not play, and he thought the transformer was burnt out because some black tar had oozed out around the leads(i advized this is normal to find) he said one tube got very hot right away-the...

    A506 won't spin

GE filter flo washers agitate instead of spin when helix spring clutch is broken-similar cause with this Maytag- those in the know with Maytags could advise where this helix spring is on a Maytag

    Foreign tube radios...

...Those wooden cabinet German radios, other European ,Japanese... :) The German ones seemed to first come our way about 1952 and always proper transformer power supply-sometimes tube rectification, sometimes flat-pack selenium bridge rectifier. Selector switches like to fall apart and spill tiny...
