Opinions on the early Maytag Neptunes

The 4000 also has that old push button setup too. I purchased one in early 2001 when they were being replaced by the 5500. I thought I got over on the buyers who went with digital control panels and got me a genuine all push button setup like my trusty old 712 series top loader. Man was I ever...

    neputne parts question

They deleted the tub light on the last couple years prouduction models for that reason. I never leave mine open anymore since figuring out that the mildew problems of the past were just poor usage habits. No odors now for the past 7 years.

    Maytag Washer/Dryer Brochure

I just noticed my reply stated that I replaced them with Neptunes in 1991, it was actually 2001. 16+ years without a repair.

    Gas Dryers vs Electric Dryers?

As I mentioned earlier we use Gas on the dryer and we also have a gas range and gas water heater and gas furnace. We have 6 birds too, and they are happy and alive and well. The only risk of fumes/carbon monoxide is with negligence the great majority of the time. Edit.. oh and we also have a...

    Maytag Washer/Dryer Brochure

Fantastic washer dryer pair. I got the 712 set in 1985 and was dumb enough to replace them with the Neptunes in 1991. I should have at least kept my wife from giving them away to my sister in law who later dumped them in a garage sale for 50 bucks... grrrr. Oh well, spilled milk, the Neptunes...

    neputne parts question

I love my Neptunes, and have enough parts to keep them going another 15 years. By then I wont care what I have as Ill probably be too old to care.

    Gas Dryers vs Electric Dryers?

Been using gas since the 70s. Used electric before that. I hated having to change out those electric coils every so often. The gas dryers have been completely maintenance free for me (all Maytags) and only replaced to match new washers. Im thinking most of those folks who had gas smelling...

I Think I Ruined My Washing Machine....

Ive used the Coca Cola trick before on 90 weight embedded into coveralls.. took a few loads but it did take out the bulk of it.

Any of you have any experience with extended car warranties??

Unfortunately those aftermarket warranties often have more exclusions than they care to state when they are pitching the sale. Often we call in for approval for repairs on high mileage vehicles and they wont cover many common failed components due to the type of failure such a leak from a gasget...

Someone threw this to me and said...catch!

Nice reconditioning job! That sure was a mess and you got her going again with some good old maintenance. Those pads may have been replaced already, hence the paint missing on the front, but I wouldnt sweat that, especially if she is quiet and running well. Too bad about the roller, sometimes...

A Maytag wringer at a bargain price - yeah, right!

I sold one of these with an NOS tub in my garage sale last year for 40 bucks. Im sure he will have no problem beating that.. :)

Someone threw this to me and said...catch!

Just for reference, here is my Neptune dryer on the left before I converted it to the 7500... Look familiar? Anyway internally exact same machine. All that I had go wrong in 10 years were those bearing straps. I am sure it would go another 10 but I found that new one that I upgraded mine with...

Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

Beautiful Flair! I gave one away recently after it sat in my garage for 10 years. I just needed the space more than it at this time.

Someone threw this to me and said...catch!

Excellent dryer. Probably just needs some of those drum bearings which are just teflon or plastic strips riveted to the front drum bulkhead. Ive replaced mine on my Neptune once. I just cut off the rivets and put small screws in thier place. That was the only repair needed on my Gas model...
