Placed the order at Sears Parts and it came to under $40 with shipping and tax. Hell of a lot better than starting out at $58 and change then adding the rest. I'm pretty sure it's the right part. The online assistant described it as the "whole filter" and the package is 11" by 5.5". Thanks again...
Sorry .. I guess I was wrong. Here it is here. They list it as "filter-lint", but it must refer to the whole part since the filter is not removable. (There is no image provided, unfortunately ..)...

An awesome price. I have to say I looked around the Internet for a while trying to come up with a fix for this problem. You guys put all others in the obscure world of washer/dryer related sites to shame. Like comparing a Formula One car to a Model T.

I've inspected the inside of the barrel and there are no loose parts or places where the plastic has broken. The only two plastic tabs are those shown on the lower part of the agitator in the photo, to either side of the nut. There are two of them and they can be pulled outward (carefully) but...
I've seen a posting from a few years back touching on this issue, but not quite addressing my situation. It seems like a simple fix.
