    Today's P-O-D 28/05/2025

Question: Is the special wash n wear care the same series of partial drain and fill followed by a short, fast spin before rinsing that I have seen in the new generation 'Tags post 1967? Also, if this is the correct vintage, this would be the model with matching dryer that starred in so many...

    Kenmore Washer

Thank You So Much, Glenn! I also forgot to cite the Reply number, which is 166. I thought of a recurring question I have had for a long time: I have never found this KM 31480 in any of the three catalog series from "Spring 1963" to "Spring 1964". Was there only a limited number of items...

    Kenmore Washer

Reply #3 I have posted the link to one of the threads featuring this machine lit up like a Vegas casino machine. And yes, it featured the pregnant Roto-swirl, timed bleach dispenser, and out of balance kick-out switch and buzzer. 1963, I believe, may have been the first year that Sears rolled...

8 Reasons Using Liquid Detergent Is Better

Reply #41 I had never thought to ever go anywhere close to H-E-B laundry detergent although I lovelovelove their dish soap. Now that I have learned that H-E-B has thoughtfully formulated their detergent to work in Texas's hard water, I might give it a try.

What's everyone using for laundry detergent these days?

Arm &Hammer Power Sheets I decided to experiment with detergent sheets. Thus far, I have been impressed with the results although needing to get a tiny size Tide liquid from Dollar Tree for when I wash one item on my hand seems somehow to counter their convenience.

    Hello From Michigan!

En Maison Laundry Welcome, Pete: Had you considered getting one of the small combos such as LG? They use 120V and offer ventless condenser drying. Some brands and models have portability kits to allow rolling up to a sink. --Chris

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

Reply #8 Yes, one could barely hear it running during wash and rinse. Then it would start draining with a loud bang that made me jump every time.

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

I am pleased to see how many have memories of this machine It indicates how many were sold. The unit for sale exactly matches my grandfather's 1964 set (ours was white) that was installed in the 1962 split level house I have fondly raved about here. The idiot architect did not design the...

    Got myself a new laptop

I'm not very happy with Asus these days. A laptop that I bought new only four years ago is not eligible to be upgraded to Windows 11. The battery needs replacing but there is not a compatible battery I can get. The wireless network adapter is shot. I am looking eagerly forward to ditching that...

I agree with those who recommend a pour-over: one serving same as pods, but much more robust taste and the set-up is fairly easy. --Chris

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-one

Reply #60 Who remembers the Dieter's Plate that many restaurants had for awhile in the middle of last century? A hamburger patty, scoop of cottage cheese and a peach half. That never struck me as very dietetic. --Chris
