Window fans, do you use them in the cooler months?

I have that fan but with the earlier die cast script badge. The fan tag says it was rated by USC at Berkeley I think. They move some serious air on exhaust! The motors are the Hunter sealed type that get zero cooling air through them and run hot as hell but dont seem to mind it. Mine got retired...

Maytag brake removal tool is back

    American tube radios...

I agree 100%. I can get AM 960 WELI clear as a bell because Im literally 1/2 mile away. However I can barely even get AM 1220 which is 1/2 mile past it up a hill, and I mean just barely, like its in NM. If I aim the radio in that direction it comes in better but I shouldnt have to. I also get...

    American tube radios...

I had a friend do just that recently to my Philco 42-322 radio and it plays like new. It only gets 3 stations in though and Ive been looking for those active antennas someone used to sell on Ebay that had one or two vacuum tubes in them so it can pull in more stations

Maytag A500 timer knob...is this easily fixable?

If you need some electrical parts like the timer assy, temp or water level switches I saved them from a 1964 A500 years ago that had a rotted tub. Sadly the timer dial was ruined so it got tossed. I may even have an original black agitator and lint screen

AOL ending dial-up internet September 30.

I probably should have chosen another one. Because I've since gotten rid of all but one of my R&M fans as well as GE for pre 1952 Emerson "G" series govt fans with the PSC motors. I love them. Really amazing and draw very little power. Got a slew of em. Plus a half dozen Gilbert Windstreamers...

    Maytag A407

This was almost 20 years ago. Is this machine still running? I got my 1974 A07 about 13 years ago. Its pretty tired but Ive got a spare trans I serviced for it out of an A806 I scrapped.

What Temp Is Your Thermostat Set?

Im on the first floor of a 2 family home with a store in front of my apartment. In fact one of my front rooms was blocked off and is part of the store. It used to be a tailor shop but my landlord bought a big place and moved it 4 years ago. Been vacant since except for 2 years ago when one of...

    The Maytag Dependable Cars

I love my Maytags. The tired old 1974 A407 has a noisy trans and once in a great while leaves a spot on whites. All Ive done in the 12 years Ive owned it was a set of belts and a used timer. It does 6 loads a week. Bought it for $50.00. I also have a pristine HA806 and HDE806 I bought 6 years...

16" Emerson Electric Oscillating Fan Model 29648

Emerson fans in general Right up to the early 50's were built like tanks. I think Emerson was just about the last fan company to stick with cast iron while the rest switched to pot metal or stampings. The AP-G govt issue fans qsd-dan mentioned are all I run from May till Sept on a 24/7 basis...

16" Emerson Electric Oscillating Fan Model 29648

Gearbox removal Is very easy on that fan. Remove the screw holding the arm to the adjuster wheel under the gear box. Then the three slotted screws holding the gear box to the back of the motor and just slide it off. Turn the gear box upside down and theres a few small slotted machine screws...

    Mid century Republic Steel kitchen

Figured I’d post this here in case someone wanted to save this. My friend does architectural salvage and has this available for sale I’m assuming here in CT. His Instagram page is Urbanminers if you want to check it out and contact him. Or urbanminers.com. He has it listed as mid century...

    1964 Maytag 500A misc parts

I have some misc parts I took off a 1964 500A years ago. Mallory timer, temp control assy, washer action assy, and pressure switch assy. This washer was working until the start winding burned out in the motor and my friend let it sit a few years with water in the tub thus rusting it. I'd like to...
