Is this even possible to do without creating irreparable damage?

@rp2813, Thank you very much for providing links to the threads on how to revive those clocks. I shall study them and try to get that clock working again for the first time in decades. @combo52 Thank you for your insights and advice. The Stratoliner is actually just a single oven model just...

Is this even possible to do without creating irreparable damage?

@rp2813, that would be great if you could point me towards a thread on how to get that clock going. I wouldn't be surprised if the one on the Stratoliner is not working either and also needs lubrication and cleaning so I'll likely have to do that repair no matter which stove I go with as the...

Help identifying a GE 1954 push button stove 24"

That '54 30" stove is very similar to my '56 GE Speedster 40" stove. If you PM me and give me your email address I can send you a schematic for my stove which I'm quite sure will be very similar. The two stoves will be wired in essentially the same way with some minor differences maybe. If the...

Is this even possible to do without creating irreparable damage?

Hello everyone, It's been quite a while since I last posted on any of these forums. In my cabin, I have a 1956 GE Speedster 40" range. I have kept it in nearly perfect working order. The only thing that doesn't work on the appliance is the clock. A while ago, I decided that the best way I...

    Maytag 613A leaking mystery

Got it solved! It could've been one of two possible things or both things at the same time. The inlet hose to the discharge pump was a little loose where it connected to the tub. I don't know if it was loose enough to leak but if I twisted the hose the hose rotated on the nipple so I tightened...

    Maytag 613A leaking mystery

Hello, I've got a Maytag 613A washer in my cabin that only gets used a few months a year in the summer and then gets drained and winterized in the fall and left dormant over the winter. Last winter, I'm sure I winterized it the way I always do by draining the inlet hoses, putting the machine...

    Unbelievable find!

@circlew, you are correct. That's all documented on the blogspot blog I provided a link to a few posts up.

    Unbelievable find!

@kenanderson, It looks like that one was their TOL 40 inch stove that year. Dual ovens, both with elevating racks. It's a shame about that glass panel being damaged... :-( I too am interested to know where a source of parts for these old Moffats might be. The Moffat brand name still exists but...

    Unbelievable find!

Okay, I found a fairly comprehensive overview of the T. Moffat Company's history here: Check out the link if you're interested to learn the history of this once important Canadian appliance manufacturer. http://progress-is-fine.blogspot.com/2016/04/we-used-to-make-things-in-this-country.html...

    Unbelievable find!

Who can tell me more about Moffat? Was it a completely independent Canadian company? Or was it a subsidiary or division of another company that had other appliance lines? One thing I'm wondering about is how hard is it going to be to get parts for this thing if I ever need them. My hope is the...

    Unbelievable find!

You can see some of its features in this thread: https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?71698_9 The one in that thread is a '59 Model 30D100 which was very similar to the my '57 or '58 30C75 but has a few different things.

    Unbelievable find!

That's the crank for the elevator oven rack. The oven has a normal lower rack but the upper rack is on an elevator thingy (technical term) that you can raise or lower using that crank. It gives you about 6 inches of vertical range. There was a Moffat range in an older house I rented back in the...

    Unbelievable find!

So for features (I think) it's got Therm-o-guard burners/elements, Super "king size" oven, a deep well cooker, rotiss-o-mat, therm-o-fryer, a warming drawer and a hand cranked elevator rack with about 6" of adjustment. Pretty much all the bells and whistles you could get in those days... So...

    Unbelievable find!

Today I found and put a deposit on an absolute MINT condition 1957 or 58 Moffat 30C75 electric range. It was Moffat's TOL 30 inch range in those years. Now here's the amazing news: The thing has literally only been used a 2 or 3 times! It's completely clean and brand new! Here's the story on...

Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

Ummm... I think my thread sort of got hijacked. This discussion is supposed to be about how I can deal with this lid switch problem from afar and allow my renters to do their washing until I can get the faulty lid switch replaced. I asked a question several posts ago which to my mind hasn't been...

Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

Also, are we wure that machine won't still shut down in an unbalance situation with the lid switch bypassed? The switch for that machine is just a single switch that is also used as a dryer door switch. It's not one of those units that also comes integrated with another micro-switch and a fuse...

Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

The current renter's son owns his own auto repair facility so he's pretty handy mechanically. At my request, he got into the control panel and bypassed the lid switch and got the machine working again. At least they can now finish the bedding and towel loads left behind by the previous renters...

Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

If it helps you to know where the switch is located, the lid switch part number for that machine was 205415 but has been superceded by W10820036. The link goes to the page where you can see the parts diagram. https://www.amresupply.com/lookup/16578/91092#diagram
