Site layout/navigating the ‘new’ AW site

I have an issue on the iPhone where when I revisit a thread I’ve been to before, it doesn’t always take me to the latest messages. Sometimes, it goes to the original message on the first page, other times it’ll take me down to the new messages regardless of how many pages there are. Otherwise it...

    Rinsing Out Detergent Measuring Cups

I just throw the clear plastic cap that pushes on over the spout, into the wash and it comes out clean at the end.

LG launched the DD dryer in the EU

I couldn’t see on your link Henrik how big it is? The latest Washtower here has a 19kg washer and 10kg dryer, but the dryer is much larger than the usual euro size. If this is double the volume of the washtower dryer, it must be enormous.

New Fisher & Paykel Top Loaders

I saw one next to a Haier in the good guys, from the rear they are now identical. Even down to the cheap looking hot and cold labels stuck on the back of the control panel.

    Kitchentek Washer?

Its a Speedqueen, we had the identical machines here branded as Kleenmaid from the late 80's until the company went broke. The Kleenmaid machines had painted tops, in which over time you could peel the coating off the metal.

New Fisher & Paykel Top Loaders

The Topload washers are a Haier design now. The smart drive models no longer exist. They’re essentially a Haier that looks kinda like an F&P

    Cooking with gas burners

Cooking with gas has become an issue as the air tightness of houses has increased. In a modern airtight house in Australia now, if you have gas, you need to have an externally vented range hood and a system to allow for make up air to enter. If you have electric, then no specific source of...

    Miele little giant programming mode

For the little giants, aren’t the programming options detailed in the manual? Or has it been dumbed down in the latest generation.

    Bought the new LG Combo

I wish you luck with the drying component. My LG combo takes 7 hours to wash and dry a load at 2400watts. Clothes come out hotter than the sun and smell like hot plastic even after they’ve cooled. For the Aussie models, the issue seems to be how little water they use during dry. My model only...

    vintage telephones on moderm line

The filter on an ADSL or VDSL is to help improve the voice quality, by filtering out the frequencies used by the digital Internet service and vice versa If you have a fully digital Internet service over coax/cable or fibre, your modem may not generate enough current to support an old telephone...

    any fave DW salt?

The TOL G2000 model did auto sense, we had a G2220XXL that was still manual configuration. Our G6905XXL which is TOL is back to manual water softener config.

International Wash-In - Canada meets Australia

It was great to see you guys as well, it was a terrific evening. Chris copes very well with being a washer widow at these events, although I think he and Michael drank their way through our festivities :) I'm glad you enjoyed Brisbane, hopefully Cairns plays nicely for you before you head back...

New Miele W2 Nova Edition on Miele Swiss website

Henrik, 3 hours to dry still seems like a lot. I washed 8 bath towels and two hand towels, which was a packed full load in the 8kg W8000. They spun at 1600rpm and still only took 90 minutes to dry to extra dry level in the T8000WP. For curiousity I washed and dried a second time in the T8001WP...

New Miele W2 Nova Edition on Miele Swiss website

3.5 hours for a 9kg Cottons extra dry program, that doesn't seem great. Is there a legislative reason they've had to slow the cottons cycle down so much, when they're doing the testing against the Eco cycle? I was excited by the idea of getting one until I read that. My "Vintage" 8kg models do...

Heat pump dryers available in Australia

I'm not fond of the new Miele heatpump dryers, but generally I find the current and original ones do a load in about 60-90 mins depending on the fabric and size. The filters are easy to clean and it tells you when its time. The original ones are faster, but its only 10-15 minutes difference. In...

Dishlex Dishwasher Won't Fill with water

Those capacitors have a limited lifespan, any product that has them inside and is more than about 20 years old will at some stage release the magic smoke. I too have never seen one on a pressure switch, they must've been a late in the design addition to help manage RF interference.

Malleys Aquarius washing machine in Melbourne

Tom, the heaters in the TL machines are limited to 2400 watts. Our circuits are generally 20amp 240v, but individual appliances don’t exceed 2400 watts unless they are on a dedicated circuit. The heat time from 10c to 60 is generally 2-3 hours

Unwrapping a new “Vintage” heat pump dryer

No, there wasn’t really a reason. He was too focused on it being only 5 years old. It ran two loads today and it performed well and quietly.

Unwrapping a new “Vintage” heat pump dryer

Thanks John, I paid $900 for it, it would’ve been almost TOL back then, so the equivalent dryer today is around $4k AUD. Henrik, the independent fan setup is one of my favorite parts, it has a proper reverse tumble with the fan running the entire cycle, plus the fan moves that much air, if you...

Unwrapping a new “Vintage” heat pump dryer

I’ve made no secret in the past that I’m not a fan of the Miele T1 Heatpump dryers, even with extra dry enabled, stuff still can feel that is really damp even after attempting to flash dry. Not to mention how long they now take in the name of efficiency. I love the first and second generation...
