Finally got powdered tide plus downy! Anyone else seen this around still?

I had never heard of this. I may have to try it now, if I can find it. Please bear with me, while I overthink this: Does it contain fabric softener, or is it just the scent of Downy? And, if one were to use a separate softener in the rinse cycle, wouldn't the scent of the detergent be lost?

    "New" to me truck.

Congratulations! What a little gem! Being from New England myself, I get the winter/road salt thing. I've been a car nut, literally all my life, and I've owned several vehicles over the years, that I refused to drive in the winter. As I've gotten older, that kind of takes some of the enjoyment...

    Frigidaire matching set

My memory is quite fuzzy on the exact details now, but they very much remind me of the first range I remember my parents having. Theirs was coppertone, and must have been of late 1960s vintage, since that's when they bought the house that I grew up in. Many a wonderful meal, including all of the...

On the hunt for an electric percolator

Hey, Christopher. Glad you found yourself a vintage percolator, and have it working the way you like! Sorry for commenting on a thread that's been sort of dormant for a while, but I haven't been around for a while. Since I have a small collection of percolators, this thread caught my eye. Then...

    What foods do you DESPISE!

Eddie, Your post made me laugh. One of my mom's guilty pleasures is Limburger cheese. I can't imagine a cheese (or anything else edible) gets much worse smelling than that. On a recent visit to her house, she asked me to cut up a chunk of it that my nephew (her grandson) had sent her for her...

    Rockford Illinois time capsule home

From the pictures that my decrepit phone will let me open, it looks like it could possibly be my dream house of sorts. While I love green, I'm not sure if I'd want it in every room. And, maybe it's not. Like I said, I can only see a handful of the pictures. Like Tim said, I too would kind of...

    Maytag wringer washer in Australia

Congratulations! I hope you have success, and equally important, fun fixing them up!

Look at what's in the kitchen

Eddie, I was thinking the same thing. Yes, real estate prices are insane now. And, all houses should be priced lower than they are. But, they're selling. A house in our neighborhood just sold for well over $300,000. Nice enough house; needed a little work. Decent neighborhood. But, that price...

    Worse invention of last 30yrs...

I couldn't agree more with you regarding the headlights! They're really getting ridiculous. I am not a fan of big government banning everything. But, like you mentioned, I could have sworn there used to be a DOT standard for the brightness of headlights, and you weren't allowed to have anything...

Look at what's in the kitchen

Once again, I guess I'm the oddball. I can see potential in it. Yes, I'd like some trees in the yard. But, as far as the house itself; the biggest detractor for me is the lack of color. I don't like the light grey or whatever that is on all the painted surfaces. But, that's easily remedied. The...

    GE 30" Shaded Coppertone Range

Although I love the era, and the color, since my parents had a coppertone Frigidaire range in my earliest childhood memories, I agree that the price is probably unrealistic. Basic but beautiful range though.

    WP Clean-Touch Pair

Interesting. One more thing I didn't know about them! I guess my mind thought...push buttons = electronic.

    WP Clean-Touch Pair

We went to an open house in our neighborhood this past spring, and there was a matched set like this that was being left with the house. I believe they were almond. The new owners of the house may have scrapped them. I had never seen the electronic control models before. We have the same style...

    Condensation in dryer

Thanks guys. While not the DIY type, you've given me some food for thought. Also, John; with some exceptions, the dryer generally gets used one day a week, for two or three loads. Thanks again, Barry

    Condensation in dryer

Hi, I guess this isn't a question specific to my dryer, but I didn't know exactly where to post it. The somewhat irrelevant information is that I have a mid-1990s Whirlpool gas dryer. What I'm curious about, is that when we have very hot, especially humid weather, like we're having right now...

    Rhubarb season, again!

Thanks, Tim! I'm definitely going to look into that!

    Rhubarb season, again!

My in-laws have a nice rhubarb plant in their yard. I want to take advantage of it more this year. They offer it to us every year. I've made muffins with it a couple of times, and enjoyed them. And, the wife makes a very nice rhubarb pie. Her father doesn't like it combined with strawberry...

    Apartments With Two Doors

The house that I grew up in is a three story apartment house, owned by my parents. We always thought of it as our "house", as opposed to an apartment. And, except for a brief time, it was all occupied by family members. The floor plan has all rooms going off from a large center kitchen. The...

    mid-80s cars...

I've always liked the Celebrity. There's none left around these parts. Honestly, I've always liked the Chevy Citation. A lot! Same thing though. There's none left here. The closest thing I ever see any more, albeit very rarely, is the occasional Oldsmobile Ciera or Buick Century from the 1990s...

    Chip on Youtube

I'm not a DIY-er, but I watched the video you linked. He is very easy to watch! He makes it kind of relaxing!
