    The silver label on the back had only the model number on it, no serial number. So Geoff, you're saying the serial number should be stamped into the machine? When you say, "in the center near the tub in the back" are you saying under the lid near the tub?...maybe on that chrome (or stainless) top?

    I just purchased a Maytag Model E in avocado (color). It has a turquoise colored wringer release. Does anyone have any idea how I go about finding out what year it was made? This machine is in almost unused condition and in perfect shape. I also have the Owners Manual. If anyone is interested...
