    Dryer duct question

Open a door or window to outside If the location has an exterior door or window I would open one during the drying cycle.

Whirlpool Discontinues Direct Drive and Maytag Neptune parts, Short RANT

I'm not so sure that WP deliberately under-build those motor couplers. This washer platform was designed back before all the planned obsolescence that we all despise. However I could agree that couplers do fail, but perhaps that was by good design so that this inexpensive part could be replaced...

    29" WP top-mount filter dryer - painting bulkhead ?

My daughters current dryer is giving her problems so I'm cleaning up a 29" Kenmore top-mount filter model to take to her in a couple of weeks. I plan to paint the top surface because it's got rust damage (probably from setting a bleach bottle on it over the years). However, my question relates...

    Kenmore wash tub not aligned

I would try this next Since you are going towards perfection, you might remove the metal cabinet and then level the washer without the cabinet attached. Your level will be laying on top of and across the white plastic tub ring. After making your adjustments to get to level (including after...

    Speed Queen question

That is a nice matching set and probably will not last long. If you think you can use it then get it. That washer allows you to control the water level which is a very nice bonus.

FL - Heating Element Failure with pictures. Why ?

Here are two pictures of the heating element that failed in my ASKO washer. During the past few months I started getting an error code (F6 = Temp. Stop Fault. Temperature is not reached within 80 minutes) so I just replaced this element and the first test cycle appeared normal today. This...

How much citric acid and baking soda to clean a SQ FL? Borax

I would not combine the two in the same wash cycle as the baking soda will neutralize the citric acid. The amount will depend on how dirty your machine is. I would probably start with 3/4 cup and see what results you get, although 1 cup would be OK as well. I would use only hot water on the...

WP DD "dual action"agitator - can't separate the upper section

Direct sun light did it After about one hour in the direct sun I gave it another try and it came right apart as expected.

WP DD "dual action"agitator - can't separate the upper section

I have a 2007 WP DD washer with the "dual action" agitator with the ratcheting upper section. It needs a new set of dogs. I have removed the center 7/16" bolt and the entire agitator lifted right up and out with little resistance - no problem. Now I just cannot get the two sections of this...

    Transmission oil flicking

What part is flicking out the oil ? Confused I've seen the WP/KM DD washers that have some oil around the inside of the cabinet. I have a difficult time understanding how it is getting there. We know the source of the oil has to be from the transmission. Yet the transmission is only 1/2...

    Marathon(??) Washer/Dryer Combo...

Dryer vent top center = add 4 or 5 inches to real depth That bump out in the back seems to be some add-on and perhaps not well designed. Many existing dryer vents are low in the wall. This machine is ~36" deep and having to route a dryer hose to the wall vent is probably going to add another...

Video: Are today's washers made to break?

I appreciate and agree with much of what was said above; but I'm not as sure that a FL washer uses less electricity than a TL. From my experience, my 25 year old KM DD TL washer uses less electricity per load than my FL ASKO or SQ. The old KM DD only uses ~1/3 of a kilowatt hour for a load...

Top rack "only" or top rack "also"??

Our whirlpool does not have that option, but I would believe that top rack wash would mean the top rack only. We had a GE DW where you could select either top or bottom rack only (or both). I figured that was some marketing department gimmick but actually found it to be useful for a one or...

Speed Queen FL - Picture of shock that failed

I dissected the front shock that failed on my SQ FL. This is from the prior generation residential FL model AFN50FSP111TW01 from 2013. We can see the spring broke in two places. When I first took it out, the two smaller sections where both wound up inside of that larger section. At first it...

    Asko Shipping Bolt

M8 x 1.25 is the bolt I confirmed the shipping bolt size is M8 x 1.25 (thread distance in mm) . Length of bolt will depend on what you are using for the openings in the rear of the machine if you do not have the Asko plastic inserts.

Does your Speed queen front load have this?

My SQ FL is from 2013 so it probably is the previous generation than yours. Regardless, mine has neither that "outer tub gasket", nor any of those small drain holes in your picture.

    Kenmore DD Neutral drain issue

I would not go that thin... If you are anyone wants to try an oil change I'd go 85/90. I would be interested if it helped with the ND, however if the machine is going to be used often I would spend another 30 minutes after you get the top cover off and just install the new ND kit.

    Asko Shipping Bolt

Size of the shipping bolt needed for Asko ? This thread came up when doing a search on the above subject because I also would like to know. There was never anyone that posted what might be the bolt size. The bolt length may depend on if you have a set of the plastic inserts or not (most...

"Fluffy" made a fur ball mess in this Asko washer

I guess this is what they call Scrud ? It appears a past owner really over did the detergents and fabric softener as I continued to get the "scrud" coming out with each wash cycle. What I had originally speculated might have been paper from a cardboard box I now believe was just a huge build...

1 Year Later with new KitchenAid kitchen

Help me with the KA platform history over the past decade Regarding the history of the KA platforms discussed above; was it like this: - Approx. 10-15 years ago it was the "Point Voyager" wash mechanism that had the built-in 4-blade stainless steel chopper (Familiar with this platform). -...
