    The orbital was introduced with the 12 series if my memory serves me. Around 1986.

    The main drive belt is glazed a bit, no oil from trans or brake is visible. Squealing wasn't uncommon with aftermarket belts from my experience.

    My first pair weren't replaced until 2006 and my A806 was built 1978. Replacements have started to squeal at about 6-7 years and lost spin speed.

    Those were the originals. Our purchasing agents wouldn't ever release who they sourced them from but every batch had 1% tested to meet their strict standards.

    Qsd-dan has a good method for the springs. The final result we looked for in the 70's was balancing a nickel on edge with our Maytag tool roll kit in the tub. It wouldn't fall if the springs were just right.

    My 1978 A806/DE808 pair are still running fine. I got them from my boss in 1980 as he was given a new employee comp pair every 2 years. I tore the A806 down about 5 years ago and replaced the damper pads. The pads were starting to shift on the base, other than a couple pair of belts that is all...
