    STTP in Washer

Where to purchase STPP?? The Chemistry Store, located just outside of my home town of Columbia SC, sells STTP. They are easy to work with, and their prices are quite reasonable. https://www.chemistrystore.com/Chemicals_S-Z-Sodium_Tripolyphosphate_STPP.html...

GE front load 24" compact front load washer/dryer

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all of the responses, and the AJ Madison listing of everything available (including several makes to which I haven't even given any thought) is helpful.  I'll also look into the "friction damper" thing. That might be all this issue turns out to be.  I'd love to...

What Temperature Is Your Tap Hot Water?

Hmmm...interesting. Our Rinnai tankless HWH is set to 108 F. I set it at that temperature as that's as hot as we like our showers (with the shower valve set to completely hot), with no "tempering" from cold water. I don't see the need to have to temper too-hot water with cold when I'm...

Corning Ware, The More You Have The More You Want

But wait, there's more When I was perusing the Corelle/Pyrex site, I happened upon these charming "Day of the Dead" storage containers in their "Clearance" section. Since they were 1/2 price, I couldn't help myself, and bought 8 in both sizes. I'll not have any more problems recognizing my...

Corning Ware, The More You Have The More You Want

The Corelle division of Corning Glass still sells the "Cornflower" dish set. I was recently in the market for a set of inexpensive light weight daily-use dishes, and I thought of the Corelle I used to eat on as a child. I looked through the Corelle website, and came upon these Cornflower...

    Alarm Clocks

An oldie but a goodie.....Zenith! When I was a boy back in the early 1970's, my father bought this Zenith alarm clock AM/FM radio for me. He thought it was high time I got myself up for school, instead of his having to whistle "reveille" at me every morning...which he still did as I inevitably...

Miele W1930 washer water intake problems

FIXED !! At least I'm hoping so... An hour and a half, a busted knuckle and sliced forearm later, Tyler, the cute neighbor and I re-assemble the washer after removing and replacing the water valve. The R+R process itself was comparatively easy, and I'm amazed that I had the tools to do this...

Miele W1930 washer water intake problems

Sooooo.....the water inlet valve was available from MieleUSA After a 10 minute hold time from the Miele USA parts department, I did discover to my mild delight that: a- I was still a registered Miele customer from days of yore. b- The 240 v. 3-way (3801391) cold water valve was available @ a...

Miele W1930 washer water intake problems

John L., What you say is invariably true; but, I don't believe I'd have gotten 15 un-interrupted YEARS of service from a Ken-Tag-Whirl-Frigid-LG-GE-Pool. Maybe, just maybe with a Speed Queen FL, but then I can't crank up the water heating to 190 F with one of them..... True cost of ownership...

Miele W1930 washer water intake problems

I'm looking for some advice from the Miele washer experts here. My (now) 15 year old Miele W1930 washer has recently developed a water intake problem. When filling with cold water; for example, a cold/lukewarm wash or any rinse cycle, the "water intake problem" light will rapidly flash. Some...

Kitchen Appliances That Never Quite Fullfilled Their Promises

I have to wonder about those Samsung "Waterwall" dishwashers that supposedly clean your dishes with a spraybar that runs on a track along the bottom of one's dishwasher. They have a fairly high failure rate, and reviews have NOT been kind...

Kroger "chambered" Diamond Clean dishwasher pods

I'm curious, has anyone who's a regular Kroger shopper tried these? The package indicates that they work as well as Cascade Platinum pacs, and I have tried them, and found that claim to be true! They do work very well, and they're $1.89 for 12 pacs, which is quite a bit cheaper than Cascade...

Sub-Zero finally makes a dishwasher - the "Cove"

It's not for the masses @ $2,200.00; it's in rarefied Miele territory there. Someone ready to buy? It'll go great with a S-Z fridge and Wolf range setup! http://https//www.reviewed.com/dishwashers/content/sub-zero-wolf-cove-luxury-dishwasher-first-impressions-review

    Air Conditioners

PTAC units Recently, the Freidrich PTAC (heat and cool) unit we had in our added-on Champion sunroom finally gave up the ghost after 11 years, and we were faced with a choice. This would be an ideal time to take out the unattractive, noisy PTAC and get a quiet, remote-controlled, hidden away...

Central AC and Closing Interior Doors

Transom windows Ahh, transom windows. They're very common in older homes in the south, where they provide an important source of air movement from room to room. Our home, built in 1947, has four or five of them, including the hall bathroom. We keep them open year around; but if we have...

    GE Quality

This is EXACTLY why, when I decided to switch from Miele to GE Profile (dishwasher) about two years ago, I purchased an additional 5 year parts and labor warranty on my Profile DW. So far, so good. I only switched, and reluctantly at that, because it is impossible to get Miele service in the...

    New 2018 KitchenAid DW; KDTE304GPS

I'm sorry to hear about your problems which ultimately led to the decision to drop the GE Profile DW.  The GE PDT845 Profile unit that I installed about a year and a half ago is still trundling along with no major or minor issues, other than door flex, which has led to my having to check to make...

    My first ADLUH biscuits.

"Adluh", is the name "Hulda" backwards; Hulda was the daughter of the founder of Adluh Flour Mills. The mill is a few miles away from me in downtown Columbia, SC. A gym friend of mine is a sister of the current owners of Adluh Mills. http://www.adluh.com/index.php

    Miele Dishwasher slow leak

Huh, so<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> that's</span> what was wrong with my 2005 Premiere Plus Miele DW. >>It’s the water inlet valve that fits right on the pipe. There is a slow trickle that comes from it and if I don’t use the dishwasher for a few days, the sump is filled with...
