Is there a way to adjust the fill level on a 1-18? I thought I read somewhere here recently someone saying you can that by adjusting something internally on the machine. Mine fills as expected using the control on the console, but it would be nicer if the maxi level filled all the way to the top cone; right now it stops about 1 inch from the highest ring on the jet cone.

There is an adjustment screw on the water level switch to bring it higher the thing is if you do and I have tried this when the machine agitates at this level it throws water around like mad. If you had the lid up you would get drenched.It will even leak on the floor.

Greg, with the 1-18 you have to remember "less is more". When I had one I started a few loads and each time decided it needed more water because I thought overfilled it with clothes. I quickly learned the roll-over is <span style="text-decoration: underline;">much</span> better of it looks like it's under filled with water. Add more water and roll-over slows quite a bit.
Plus as Mark confirmed, I can only imagine how aggressively splashy it would be with the water level any higher.
Turning Up The WL On A 1-18 Washer
This is easy to do and when I got my first 1-18 I did just that and quickly learned that 1-18s have very poor turn-over with a high WL and as they drain the higher WL makes the lint redepositing problem MUCH worse, I had no problems with splashing or leaking however.
I always though that it was too bad that GM-FD did not come out with a dual action agitator for the 1-18, it could have had flip-up wings near the top of the agitator that would flip out on the down stroke and flip back in on the up-stroke to really move the clothing on these extra large tub machines.

you've convinced me to leave well enough alone rather than raise the water level. It's so nice just to see a washer that actually uses water to clean clothes. I live in a building in NYC that is all high efficiency machines so the only time I use the 1-18 is when I'm back home like I was this weekend. Amazing what water can actually do to clean clothes ( and how well the 1-18s rinse the soap out with just one deep rinse). Thanks
