Noticed 12v air conditioning units have been avalible lately:"universal" kits for cars and even mini-minisplit units Cast aluminum bolted together BLDC scroll compressors,outdoor fan brushed automotive type.Unlike home minisplits,these are not precharged and installer charges up with R134.They are all made in china from what i have seen. Peak 12V amp draw is about 20X what equivilent 240V units draw Could work nice for campers,houseboats, or remote,off grid locations with plenty of solar power.

Would love to see what the energy efficiency ratio of these units are, I would be willing to bet they’re very low since units like this are exempt from any energy regulation.

It would be generally much more efficient to take an inverter and jump the power up to 120 or 240 V and then Run a high-efficiency air conditioning system from the power.
