1945 Way Out Design for a washing Machine

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That's what I was thinking too Louis, that this machine resembles a vintage auto, just couldn't put my finger on it! Who knows, he probably designed it around a '34 Sportsman...I wonder if he thought about the trademark Cord pop-up headlights in the front?

Wow!

The art-deco design of that machine when looked at from the side has a very similar door pattern to what the stained glass windows had on the front door of our old 1930s semi-detached house!

I think maybe if it had wheels, not only would it be able to wash and dry your clothes, but would also collect them from the bedrooms, and deliver clean laundry straight to your armchair :-).

What it looks like to me, is that there would be a conventional TL automatic washtub under the hood, that tilts forward when the machine is shut off, to be loaded and unloaded from an inclined position under the top door. The drive elements for tilting the tub, perhaps a chain or cogged belt arrangement, would be hidden under the slightly larger side panels.
