Today I went to try and fix a 1947 Kelvinator stove for a friend. The oven was dead. There was power coming to the thermostat but not out of it.

I brought the thermostat home to work on. I think I have it back together right, but I hate to make the two hour trip to the stove without a back up plan. The stove is a model ER-469. The thermostat is marked Robert Shaw C1. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have one or know anyone that rebuilds electric thermostats?

I also am looking for an 8" burner since part of one of theirs is dead.

This should help...

Phone.805-643-3532, There services are not cheap, but be assured you get what you pay for ,and my experience with them has been better than good, excellent, they rebuilt a Caloric thermostat for me,works perfectly, they can probably help you with the surface unit, although any older repair shop should have one of these, its a standard old Chromalox unit, replacements are still available, I know Graingers still carries them.

I got a NOS Hotpoint oven thermostat from them for the oven in my 56 GE kitchen centre! I worked with Eric Campion there and he was very helpful. Here's the link to their website.
You never know - they may have an original replacement or at least a 'modern' compatible replacement!
