1953 is the earliest Hamilton washing machine I can find listed. Automatic Hamilton washers were made by Norge, as might have been their wringer washers also. In 1950 Norge had a giant 18 lb. automatic bolt down front load washer that was based on the mechanical design of the Bendix Automatic Home Laundry, but it only appears for one or two years. JeffAdelphi scanned literature for the ephemera section. It's model AW204. Norge's agitator automatics did not appear in the model listing until 1952.
Hamilton's 1953 washer offerings included 8 and 9 pound wringer washers available with or without drain pumps and a semi-automatic model 320PT and a fully automatic with spin dry, model 330.
Now something very interesting that could hint at plans for collaboration between Hamilton and Norge is the design detail on the front of the Norge AW204 and the front side panels of the Hamilton dryers which all featured pilasters. In classical architecture, a pilaster is an architectural element used to give the appearance of a supporting column and to articulate an extent of a wall, with only an ornamental function. All of this came to an end when the Hamilton dryers were made to match Norge washers with a control panel.
