Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

With the exception of the red knobs, this is just like the first dryer my Mom owned. Our’s had black knobs. There was also a lever it the top of the door opening that when pulled down acted like a brake on the drum, probably disengaged the belt? This was for drying items without tumbling. She used this from 1955 to 62’.

Eddie, that sounds about right to me, because the subject dryer looks like the one my mom had until late 1967.  I think hers was a '56, which may have been the first year for red knobs.

The Time Line function had stopped working for quite a while before the dryer was replaced.

The dryer pictured above must be electric.  I'm pretty sure the gas ones had an access panel at right rear on the cabinet top.

What dat?

That's a cool dryer, looks in nice shape, too. A neighbor I used to babysit for had a similar dryer. I remember it was on a very long vent and if you opened the door while it was running, the giant fan would blow baby clothes all over the floor with a "whoosh" sound.

Interesting indoor vent/lint trap. Was that a Norge accessory?

It will be saved!

Thanks to a kind offer from a friend in St Louis, this dryer will be making its way north. Hopefully sooner than later.... lol

It is just too hard to pass up a chance for a matched set, what can I say.  Now I have to tell Hubby - something tells me I may have to reduce the number of Norge washers down to 1 though...
