I've never seen one of these before and almost missed it at the flea market. Doesn't appear to have been used and the instruction manual is almost mint cept where whoever tore it from the glue that was holding it inside. There's even recipes inside for things like everyones favorites, Aunt Peggy's 2 Egg Pumpking Pie and Aunt Peggy's Quickie Layer Cake. The lid/dome has a handy built in thermometer.
 
It's non electric, just sits over top of a burner. Would have been nice to have been electric..on the back page of the instrx book it does show some options,, a Tater-baker, Kake Saver, Brown Betty Casserole and an electric Table Broiler, their spellings not mine.

Have a vintage MIB WestBend "Ovenette" which is something like yours except it comes with a thermostat/power cord. IIRC Westbend also made a stove top version of these units as well.
Early models were aluminum, but mine is SS or something like that.

Unit came with lots of fun recipies, and assorted pans as well, but have yet to use it.

Think items like these were made for using as a small second oven, or to use instead of the main oven during warmer times of the year. Which is why I purchased mine (to bake say a small cake or pie for afters on Sunday without heating up my entire kitchen (gas fired oven).

Very nice condition. Every 50s kitchen needs one. I like baked potatoes, but I also like mashed taters! See link.

 
Hi Pete, My grandmother had the "ovenola". I remember her using it lots. Especially in the summer to bake potatoes in. Throughout the year she would always warm dinner rolls, coffee cake and thing like that in it. It was a neat little oven that warmed things quickly. Terry
