Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Whomever is even thinking about shifting that washer/dryer, better not only eat his Wheaties, but consider serving several bowls to a group of strong men. That machine looks like it means business and one assumes just a simple one man with an appliance dolly won't work. Especially if there are flights of stairs involved.

It's a classic

Nevertheless, I always heard they had some reliability problems. The comment about eating wheaties is about right, it would weigh quite a lot. I have a 50's dryer that weighs more than any washer I ever owned and I bet the Bendix is about twice as heavy.

Sure is a nice looking machine though. $200 is about twice what I'd want to pay in any case.

mrcleanjeans.....well, maybe

That's nice to hear. I don't know enough to make a sound judgement other than I seem to remember an owner complaining about the frequency of repair, and some negative comment from someone else who could have been a repairman. And something about weight. But I wouldn't swear to anything specifically. It's all old memories drifting in the mists of time.

I don't suppose the flexible boots are still available?

I have been wondering, were any of these residential machines bi-directional? ... I remember that our old front loading Westinghouse, may it rest in peace, always twisted any load into a knotty lump. Wish I still had it.
