1956 FRIGIDAIRE COLD PANTRY - CL LISTINGS

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Interesting that FD didn't change the handle position on the freezer compartment door for units with hinges on the left.

I'm curious about what makes these particular models "a dream to own" and must-save items.  I'm partial to GE Combinations and would like to know how the cold pantry compares.  Are there convenience features that can't be found on other makes?  Is defrosting as easy as with a Combination that has a drain in the freezer?  That major convenience is at the top of my list.

It's all superficial for me

I've always like the styling from the door door handle, to the shiny chrome, to the anodized pink aluminum shelves....who the hell knows, they're just nice to look at. I know that doesn't speak for how it should work but I also have a 1958 pink GE Combination refrigerator that randomly gets freezing cold even though I have the dial on top on the 2-3 setting. Plus the freezer portion has now gotten as cold as the refrigerator portion. I need a refrigeration expert/repair man in Denver that doesn't tell me to 'get rid of this ugly old thing' (true words spoken to me)

Cool (NPI).

The cold controls on GE Combinations from the mid-late '50s are notorious for failure, but that doesn't explain why the freezer section on yours sometimes gets too warm and the fresh food section gets too cold.  That's a head-scratcher.

Meanwhile, regarding the fridge in Florida, $400 would be ridiculous if the fridge actually worked.  Asking that much for an incomplete fridge that doesn't even work is pure lunacy.
