Almost perfect! It’s got good airflow, everything working just fine but it over heats! I replaced the upper over temp thermostat and still overheats and shuts down. It will run for a while but once it stops it also over heats the thermostat and won’t start back up again until it cools down a little.
One thought was that it is missing insulation somewhere? Any ideas? I’ve run out of my own ideas!

Does anyone know the proper wattage of this dryer? I think that there is a possibility it has the wrong heater coils in it!

Isn't that the correct operation of the high-limit thermostat? If the machine shuts down when it overheats, then the high-limit thermostat would be working correctly.

It would be the cycling thermostat which is in charge of turning the heating element on and off as-needed to maintain a "normal" temperature...

I don’t think it’s the motor, because it will cold run (disconnect the heater) no problem and it will run on delicate with the back panel off without a problem. Click it to normal and it goes over temp real quickly.
What do the 2 thermostats on the outlet do? One is a L110 and the other L145. Do those cycle the heater?

Do you know if the cycling thermostat (or as Frigidaire calls it in the service manual - the heat control switch) is good? Looks like the fabric switch is wired in circuit to turn the heater off.

What type of motor arrangement did you end up installing?

Ben

EDIT - the '56 manual does a better job of explaining this than the '57. Looks like the fabric switch set to normal will put the 145 degree thermostat in the circuit, and with the switch set to delicate it will cycle on the 110 degree thermostat.
