We moved to this mid-century home last May and are the second owners of the home. The home was built in 1957 and everything is original. We have a 50's Westinghouse Dishwasher and everyone who comes into our home thinks it's the coolest thing ever. The previous family did share that the dishwasher doesn't work and we have never tried. However, they also told us one of the garage doors was broken but it indeed did work. So - for what it's worth we just don't know.

We are renovating our kitchen starting on Monday, July 8, keeping a cool mid-century vibe and we are upgrading the dishwasher. I would love to see this dishwasher go to a home where it would be loved and appreciated. I am unsure how I came across your website but am glad I did. I would love to sell it to someone who is interested and excited. I honestly have no idea what to even price it at? Do you have any thoughts on that? I would appreciate your insight.

The only dishwasher that my family ever owned was one just like this, only the front panel was an anodized copper finish which also matched the Westinghouse wall oven.

We moved into this house on May 5, 1962 and my father died on 6-30-62. Shortly after he died the DW died too and with all the other problems facing our family getting the DW repaired was the least of them and it was never used again.

We let the house go back to the sellers in June of ‘63 and moved to Sonoma County. This house was also built in 1957. I had always thought it was built in ‘56, but a week ago I did an online search to this home and learned that it was in fact built in ‘57.

Turning the upper dial to the right advanced the timer dial at the bottom. I believe I remember that this machine had a thermal hold on the wash portion of the cycle, Westinghouse's famous Hot Water Booster to guarantee 140F wash water.

Moving this to Imperial for all to see as the owner has not received any responses from where I originally posted this to members only in As the Tub Turns.

Our family had a Westinghouse roll out dishwasher for many years. The builders removed the original copper front panel and replaced it with a Philippine mahogany one to match the kitchen cupboards. Although it was an impeller machine, we never had a problem with its cleaning performance, food particle redepositing, nor did it ever etch glassware.
