Washer and dryer both work; the dryer is in MUCH better shape than the washer but both will need a full restoration. Washer needs a new door boot and pump, and the cabinet will also need to be repainted. Many parts are still available for the "potato-pulley" models so it won't be a tough job searching; if these were closer I'd consider them myself!! Located in Barberton, OH.

hmmm

Never saw an FL machine with the Suds Saver option. The ultimate in savings. May be worth it for that alone

There must be a problem with the auction ....

Austin's link no longer works and I got a similar error message when I went to E-Bay and found the auction.

I wonder what's going on?

It's working now ...

What a handsome pair. I hope that someone can save them!

Was 1959, the first year that Westinghouse put the controls on a rear control panel instead of on the familiar front of the machines?

Since I am the owner of these and put them up for bid, I should tell a little bit about their history. I got them from an Akron dealer, and really didnt want them but was desperate to save them from being thrown away. I already have 16 washer/dryer sets, and at least another 20 washers and dryers, so I ran out of room a long time ago! I have 2 Westinghouse sets already so I just cant keep everything. They would make a good project for someone that is into Westinghouse Slant Fronts, but I just dont have the time or energy OR the space to keep them. I put them up for what I paid for them, and would be happy just to find a buyer for that amount. If they dont sell, they are going to be parted out and end up at the scrap yard........Im able to store them for a buyer for a while, so I sure hope someone can save them. It really is too nice and too rare of a set.......

This pair was made in 1961 or later...

This Westinghouse set was made in 1961 or later. I know this because of the Westinghouse symbol on the machine (the W with the dot on each of its points). For many years at our summer home we had a 1960 Westinghouse Fridge Freezer that was installed when the place was built in 1960 and the emblem on that was the plain W with the line underneath. Also I have seen 1960 Westinghouse ads and they still used the W with the lineunderneath but ads I have seen starting in 1961 have the same embelem that is on this set. Pat Coffey

Pat, thanks for your help. Not quite sure of the dates. When I got this set, there was no pigtail on the dryer. To install one, the top has to be unhooked and lifted back on its hinges to expose the 220V connector block. Inside the upper lid near the timer is a date stamp that
reads: Nov-30-59. Could be the models slightly overlapped or different assembly plants used up parts in stock etc for the product runs.........Or perhaps some parts were swapped with a later model? Sometimes tracking the history is a guessing game........

Nice Slant Fronts, FilterFlo

If I could just arrange to have them dressed up like
a couple of short stout humans, I would place them in the club car of the next west bound Amtrak California Zephyr,
after bidding with abandon! Just curious about their campanion, the one behind to the left of the dryer with the unrolled caution tape resting near the trapezoidal window.
It reminds me of my Grammie Coverts fancy 58/59 laundramat.
