Hi everyone~! I am in the process of restoring a 1960 Multi-Matic and need to see if i can find a couple of items to complete the process. What i need is the upper and lower drive belts (Part No. 6566757DF for the upper/smaller belt and 6566758DF for the lower/larger belt. I also need to located an impeller for the water pump. If anyone would have an idea where i might locate these parts i would appreciate hearing from you. Hopefully will get some pictures put up once i get the project completed. actually, the belts are available from your local hardware store. That's where I got the ones for my WCI-59. I don't recall the numbers, but I'm sure someone on this board knows what they are. As for the impeller....TrainGuy, any ideas?

I greatly enjoyed restoring my WCI-59, which is now in Rich (TrainGuy's) collection paired up with the matching dryer. It was so quiet and smooth running. It was an amazing machine. I traded it for a 1967 WCIL RollerMatic which I absolutely love.

Thanks davey i will check out the hardware stores tomorrow. I never understood why these machines were labeled "multi-tragic" either. I haven't had the chance yet to actually use this particular machine because it did have some problems that needed corrected before i went any further with the restoration. I tore into the mechanism this afternoon and found a couple of issues and corrected those so hopefully the changes that were made will take care of the problems. Would you happen to know what weight oil needs to go back in the mechanism? And also how much should be put in? The repair manual that i have doesn't specify the weight or quantity. I will post some before pictures and after pictures when everything is completed. Will hopefully finish up the mechanicals this week then will concentrate on painting the cabinet and getting all the trim polished up. Thanks for the info!

Hi Mark: For the Belts:
Lower Belt: 3L320
Upper Belt: 3L280
if you have some trouble getting the belts properly adjusted with a then get a 3L285 for the upper belt (that is a more rare belt, you will probably have to find that on the internet).
For oil use Ace Hardware Air Compressor Oil in all Frigidaire Unimatic, Pulsamatic and Multimatic Transmissions.
Lower Belt: 3L320
Upper Belt: 3L280
if you have some trouble getting the belts properly adjusted with a then get a 3L285 for the upper belt (that is a more rare belt, you will probably have to find that on the internet).

Mark, if you can't find the 3L280 belt, I have an extra one here. Email me at [email protected] and I'll shoot it out to you. Also, if you lay the machine down, prop it up with a 2x4 in the front, this is a tip I got from either Uni or Trainguy. It keeps the oil from flowing out. Getting the two belts at the proper tension was a bit of a bugger, but once they are set, the machine is awesome. I'm not sure if the '60 has an automatic tensioner on it. The '59 did, so I'm pretty certain they carried that to the '60

I do have the machine propped up but as of right now it doesn't have any oil in it since i dismantled the mechanism to trouble shoot a couple of problems with it. But hopefully those are taken care of now. This machine does have the automatic tensioner. The motor has a swivel mount that that has 2 springs that provide the tension for the belts. I have the mechanism back together and hope to get the belts this week but also need to try to locate an impeller for the pump. I think its because a few members had some problems getting the belts adjusted properly with the 4 Speed Machines. Personally I had two of these in my collection for about 3 years and once I got the hardware store belts adjusted properly (which can be a challenge) I never had any issues with either of these machines. I think that of all the machines as they age the Unimatic is the most solid and dependable, followed by the Pulsamatic then the Multimatic. IMO, the Rollermatics were a good machine when it was new, but it does not age well at all.

LOL Not many of us "age" well........lol (at least i haven't) But i do use my WD-65 on a daily basis and has proven to be a reliable machine. It was used on my grandparents farm since it was new till around 1990 when they passed away. To my knowledge they only had to have it repaired once and that was a timer issue. My granny was the queen of clean....I can remember not being able to wear shoes in the house up until the time i was married and had kids but by that time we were so "trained" to pull our shoes off at the door it was like second nature......

I have the 67 WCIL and I anticipate that it will be running long after our Calypso shits the bed. As a matter of fact, my wife is in agreement that when it does, the WCIL will take it's place. I did put new rollers on it all around and it's relatively quiet and with that Rapidry 1010 (which my wife loves) she has no argument here! Let's see where these new machines are 40 years from now.......

Hi Guys. This thread talks about belts for the '59 or '60 multimatic. Specifically, the belt part numbers mentioned ..... Lower Belt: 3L320 and Upper Belt: 3L280. I am working on a Frigidaire WIAR-61 and would love to know if these 2 belts would work on my '61 multimatic?? I have the 2-speed clutch system and the service manual I have only gives one part number for a 2-belt set. The number shown is "6563821, Belt SET". I want to replace the weathered belts, but of course I can't find belts by this original number. Can anyone confirm the alternative belt numbers mentioned above would work on my model? Also did they have individual part numbers, or was this "belt set" number the only number to go on? Thanks!
