Wow, that was some kitchen for a ranch style house in 1961 to have two kitchen sinks!!! Looks like a good size kitchen too. I bet the original dishwasher was that telephone dial Whirlpool!!!

I recall my dad's aunt & uncle had a Whirlpool cooktop with the "Inner/Both" selection switch for one of the burners.  Estimate the house was built between 1969 and 1971.  Appliances were avocado.  No dishwasher.  She was of the "old school" gas cooking experience, an avid canner/baker and didn't like electric so had a completely outfitted 2nd kitchen with gas range at the rear of the garage.

Looking at that WP electric oven, you see how they used the basic gas builtin structure to have another oven where the broiler compartment would be in a gas oven. In some electrics like the Suburban, the lower compartment had a broil element and a drawer that pulled out like in a gas range, but it had a complete thermostat that went from Warm to Broil. I never looked at one closely enough to see if there was a bake element under the drawer assembly.

That control with the inner and both switch was a thermostatic unit. Note the warm settings. There were fry and boil settings above that on the dial.
