Last night my Whirlpool washer was filling for the rinse ( I had the temp. dial set on warm) I turned the water temp dial to hot and it started to fill the rinse with hot water.  I'm thinking this is probably a contact problem with the timer.  Any ideas will be appreciated.  Thanks !!!

Bob, what happens when you try to fill the machine for a warm wash, then switch the temperature selector to hot? Do you have separate controls for rinse temperature selection or are all rinses warm?

You may have a bad water valve - not uncommon if it's one of the older thermostatic ones. This is the 'cause of death' that I've observed in several of my older washers that had the thermostatic valves - rinses defaulted to hot at all times.

Paul:  It will fill on a warm or hot or cold wash.  It has previously auto filled with warm rinse if the selector (Only One) is on hot wash.  Last night is the first time it has done this.  It will fill for cold rinse only if you move the selector to cold.

I will be using it some more this weekend and will see how it does.  Thanks for the input.
