I'm trying to find a specific filter for my 1964 Nutone? vent hood. I have checked with all of my usual online vintage appliance sources and some not so vintage. The problem that I keep running into, is that it is a long V-shape (see pics). Does anyone have any idea who would have this specific filter? If not, can I use oven cleaner on it or would that ruin it? Thanks for any info.

If available purchase a box of White King D water softener and add one cup to a sinkful of very hot water. Then soak the filter briefly. The grease and dirty film will be softened. Use a bristle brush and remove the softened grease and dirt.
Rinse and air dry. You'll be amazed how well this will bring the filter back as new.

LA's Totally Awesome (yellow) cleaner will melt that grease away in a matter of a few minutes.  It is quite strong, so use it outside or with good ventilation.  I've cleaned many a range hood up with LA's.  Straight commercial ammonia will also work well, but it's even hotter than LA's and outdoors with gloves and stiff breeze is preferable.  John is correct, a stiff brush might tear it apart, you can dab gently at it with a softer dish-brush if it needs a little coaxing in the corners, etc.  Never had one I couldn't get to like-new again and I've seen much worse.

For filters, I put them in a plastic trash bag, spray it to soaking inside the bag and leave it for a while.

The cheapest place to find the LA's is usually Dollar General.  $3/gallon can't be beat.
