My kenmore washer has recently started leaking intermittantly when I run it. It cylces out fine with wash rinse and spin working like new. The manuel suggests that the filter can be loose and suggests tightening the knob that is labeled filter. However, I do not see such a knob on my machine. Another suggestion I received stated that the bleach dispenser could be causing the leak and plugging the hose that is connected to this could solve the problem. I cannot tell what the problem is. I ran a cycle with the back of the washer pulled off and I saw water dripping down a plastic looking cylinder next to the tub. I do not know what this part is. I do know that the washer leaks only intermittantly and continues to leak hours after the machine has finished its washing cycle. As a matter of fact I noticed water coming out the front of the washer even a day after using it. Any ideas what this could be?
Thanks in advance, Al Arnolfo

Photos, photos, photos please!

Hello Al,

Photos really help when you are trying to describe a problem like this.   So if you can, please post photos of the machine itself (not sure what a 5480 series is) and of this plastic piece you say water is dripping off of.

IF it is the bleach dispenser hose leaking, simply plugging it won't help, it will likely be leaking from where the hose connects to the outer tub.   Also it will most likely NOT continue many hours later or especially the next day.

Open the top of the washer (the link below is a "how to" video) so you can look down inside from the top.   If you don't see anything obvious, run the washer with the top open and look down around the tub as it's running.   This MAY help you get a better idea where the leak is coming from.
