Hi Gordon,

Thanks so much for your response. I do not think my bleach hose is leaking because I ran a cycle and the hose and area it runs into the tub was dry. The water is coming from below and filling the platform. It makes sense that the next step would be to remove the inner tub to see what is leaking. Can you help? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Al Arnolfo

Check out the restorations tab

Al -

I think the simplest thing to suggest is to have you look at the restoration of the 1957 Lady Kenmore washer. It is ten years older than yours, and not exactly the same, but similar enough that you will get a good idea of what to do.

Specifically look at pictures 8, 9, 11, and 13. You will need a spanner wrench, or at least I strongly suggest it. Your agitator probably does not have the drive block, so it lifts straight up once the cap has been unscrewed.

That will be a start for you!

agitator removal for 67 kenmore 800

Hi Gordon,

I followed the restoration instructions for removing the basket (57 Lady Kenmore) so I can check my Kenmore 800 tub for leak location. I got as far as the step for removing the agitator. You instructed me to remove the cap and then the agitator will slip right up. No drive block that I could see. However the agitator seems to not move. It has a little play (about 1/8th inch)when lifting up and then abruptly stops. It is as if something is holding it back. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. So far the instructions have been just great and helpful. Thanks once again in advance.
Al
