Hi Guys

Here is the latest addition to the collection which arrived this week. It's a UK designed but Australian built Wilkins Servis automatic. It has been sitting in a farmshed for the past 7 years but works fine.

I was very much looking forward to getting this machine as the engineering is like nothing ive ever seen before..pic attached.

Wilkins Servis OZ only made this style of machine for a few years before switching to making Maytag clones with the helical drive transmission.

Cheers
Leon

Wow I've never seen that transmission before! Love the snap on filter, very Maytag-esc, but then not anything like we've seen before.

Hey Leon

Great looking machine - and nice to see under it too. The transmission power-unit looks very similar to the early AEI Hotpoint design, which was also produced under licence down under by Fisher and Paykel (using various brands such as Savaday, Kelvinator and GE). Cool machine you got there...so how does the suds-return work - is there a second pump?

Suds Return

Hey David,

With regards to the suds return, you put the drain hose into the full laundry tub of water and turn the dial to "Suds Return", the machine then starts to agitate which sucks the water back through the pump and then up into the tub, until a majority of the water has been pumped back into the machine.

Cheers

Well I never..!!!

How the hell did I miss this!!!! well done Leon, I do hope this is not the only inside of this machine that the UK bods ever see!!!

That transmission is very similar to the Hotpoint UK top loader, the agi base looks very like the Servis models, and the holes?? did any other model have a heater??

What about the tub?? is this like any other AU or US machine??that outer bowl looks like it dips, which could take the place of a heater perhaps??

Heres the inside of the infamous MK41, wow need a lie down know, many thanks Leon!!!

You're very welcome Mike!

Hey Mike,

I did post the original thread close to xmas, so didn't know if you would see it.

Wow...you're right: the transmission looks similar to the UK Hotpoint.

Heater: Yes...the Mark 22 4 Speed Deluxe version did have a heater...see attached.

As for the tub, the design doesn't seem like any other AU machine ive seen before...not sure about the US.

Don't worry Mike...this machine is not going anywhere..it will be well looked after.

Leon
