1969 TOL Miele Frontloader on ebay

hey, I have just found this ebay auction about one of Miele's sturdiest frontloaders. This classic water hog was top class back then. No bids yet, the owners couldn't hook it up to check it, I guess that is why there are no bids yet. Optical condition looks better than good to me. See yourself.
Apparently the machine can be hooked up single phase 220 V (wall plug) or triple phase (permanent cable) 220 V (star shaped = phases to neutral) or triple phase 380 V (triangle shaped = phases to phases)
I know this machine, we had it in our student's dorm, it had been slaving away some 20 years already and was still doing 10 to 12 loads daily without the slightest coughing (although it is a household unit).
I do know it weighs some whopping 150 kg of pure steel.

-off
-red (boilwash, 95°C): cottons (sturdy), cottons, diapers, perm. press
-yellow ((hot 60°C): coloureds, perm. press, delicates
-blue (lukewarm and cold): coloureds, delicates, wool
-starching/softening
- extra prewash
- short spin
- spin
- drain
- quick forward: skip prewash
- quick forward (0 position)

indicator wheel: prewash, main wash, triple cool-down, 5 rinses, spin, off

Only one machine is more desirable to me and that is the later 421S with the electronic door opener. That was the machine they had at neighbours of my grand parents. I loved that machine!

This one is great too with three motors, one for washing, one for spinning and one for the pump. The rapid advance timer is great too!

that is one cool washer! looks very "american"for a vintage german washer-as far as
i know we did not have miele over here until sometime in the '90s

Stefan, the machine is closer to you than you think!

cfz (for lack of a better first name) - pretty true, I think the backsplash does it and all the chrome trims.
At least this thing is a beast, I have never seen such a sturdy and heavy machine again in my life (and in no country of the world, as I've been to many). If this thing was a car you'd problably see a tank in front of you.

I know it is pretty close to me, already checked that
As I do most of my laundry at 60 and 95 the choice of programs would also be more than sufficient for my needs, but I can only have one washer so will have to keep the not so handsome modern Miele and enjoy the high spinspeed, flood control and power savings.

Ich muchte dieses Waschmachine BIG TIME!!!!This is a newer version of the Miele we had in our dormitory in France and I learned, the hard way, what CHAUD meant to my tighty-whities. No waiting 45 minutes for this beauty to start boiling the water.

 

I wonder if anybody I know might be driving to the US from Northern Europe. Hey John, how hard is it to convert a 50 cycle machine to work in the US on 60 cycles?
