Mooning over your stove

Hi Walt,

I watched your stove on Ebay for days and had great fantasies, then I got real. I've got a KA dishwasher and a parts stove for my 1951 GE double oven in my basement. Not sure what the word for "wife-icide" is, but my husband would do it if he came home to another large appliance before I dealt with the ones I have :-) Even with Mixfinder's enabling and encouragement, I just couldn't do it.

I wish you great luck finding a home for it.

Post pictures to this thread so everyone who didn't see it on Ebay can see it here :-)

Best,
Sarah

51 GE stove

Sorry it took me a few days to reply,I use library computer. Do you need parts for your GE range? I specialize in vintage appliances(mainly electric ranges). I have my own collection of 1950s HOTPOINT ranges. Would post pics, but can't from this computer. A second hand store is interested in my 1970 GE 30". Thanks for your reply, take care,Walt

Walt,

Since you collect Hotpoint ranges from the 50's, I was wondering what your opionion is as to how Hotpoint compared to GE. Not only ranges, but the entire line. Were the Hotpoints of the time equal or superior in quality and features to GE's offerings? I always thought of Hotpoint during that time period as being a premium product. It seemed like that by the later 60's they were no longer so, and now have slipped down to being a budget brand. Hotpoint even had a commercial cooking equipment line back then. Would like to see your collection if I get up that way.

Hotpoint range collection-Walt

Hello, and thanks for your replies! I hope to post some pics, when I get on line again. I think I will be selling my pink 56 top of the line HOTPOINT double oven range at some future date. I am looking for late 50s HOTPOINT RANGES,and would consider trading for the right one. I look for mainly clear lighted pushbutton models. I look forward to meeting some of you in the future. In answer to your question,I always liked HOTPOINT better in 50s,but in 60s and 70s GE made really nice models. My favorite newer model for HOTPOINT was a 747.Thanks,Take care,Walt
