Leon:

I read a post some time ago about perhaps due to patents in your home land that these may still be made?

you know anything about that? This machine looks different as the custom deluxe's i remember.

Steve

Somebody in OZ GRAB IT!! It's too rare. Yeah, wouldn't that be a trip if they were made somewhere in AZ and we didn't know it. Looks like a cross between a Custom Deluxe and Custom Imperial.

Fantastic looking *Rollermatic* with *Rapidry*. This would be an excellent machine to have in a collection. A great work horse, and a lot of fun! ( And not too difficult to work on!)

Hoping someone will be able to snatch this one up! A good going over with some automotive type *cleaner/wax* would have it sparkling like new!

Hmmmmmm I wonder if there is a *Beltman* *down-under*?!

Not made here anymore as far as i know

Hey Gyrafoam....

Sorry to disappoint you,but the only Oz made washers these days are Westinghouse, Simpsons and Hoovers...all by Electrolux. The last Frigidaire was the current style model imported briefly in the 90's.

I'm getting quotes at the moment about how much it would be to ship to where i live...so far...about $280.00 US !...we'll see what price i can get.

that is about an hour drive from my parents place. I have emailed the seller about arranging pickup / delivery, I can't get there anytime soon but I do go there regularly. I am very interested - it is similar to the one we had when I was a kid, though ours was just a deluxe. 1970 would have to be one of the last made in Aus.

I think this is a pulsamatic - as far as I know only Pulsamatics were made here, the rollermatic mechanism was never used here. Pulsamatics were used here long after they stopped in USA.

Chris.

That would be quite interesting. I don't think the pulsamatic style agitation would turn anything over with a Deep-Action agitator. Chris, Could it possibly be a Multimatic? It sure will be interesting to see.

I may have jumped the gun a little but looked like I saw a *Rapidry* script on the chrome below the timer dial----maybe not. *Pulsamatic* mechanism----wow-----a *Jet-Action* Vita-Mix!

The square Frigidaire badge on the front of the machine has a decidedly early '60's look to it so if the machine turned out to be a Multimatic I suppose I wouldn't be too surprised. In fact, just the overall look of the console has a decidedly '63ish-'64ish look----even though it IS different from what I saw sold here in the U.S. in 1970. With that *Jet Cone* agitator in it you would think they would have used a *Rollermatic* mechanism. I wonder if that *Jetcone* is a replacement for a *Three-Ring*? It WOULD look real kool with a '64 type *Three-Ring* in it!

Glad to hear someone who can appreciate it is going to get it!

Best wishes!

I love that console style! It looks more like the 1950's than the 1960's.

Frigidaire washers built in Australia might be very different. We don't know if the Oz factory ever retooled to produce the Rollermatic. I do remember seeing posts that the 1/18 style washer was never build there.

Yes, Yes, Yes to all, but Hey:

Com'on Gizmo and/or Leon! One of you guys get this machine. Get it and keep it forever. It is a true treasure.

Thanks for the info on the making's.

Steve

I was told by some GM people.....

Several years ago, I was told by a friend that worked for GM, that the entire plant machinery was sold to a company in Australia. I immediately thought that since they were still building the roller-matic long after we had the 1-18's, that parts would surely be available. After several years of trying to locate the machines, parts, or anything I could find relating to the old solid tub roller-matics, I gave up. Every resource that I tried in Australia ended up dead end. Mark

I think it might be multimatic - isn't that just a variation on a pulsamatic? I vaguely remember helping my dad to repair our machine, it had two drive belts to I guess that would make it a multimatic.

I have contacted the seller regarding problems I might have about picking it up around end of auction time, she is happy to hold it till I can pick it up which might be some weeks. I will most likely bid on it but if anyone else wants to bid too, feel free. If you want it Leon, go ahead. I won't be bidding very high. If it's not seriously cheap them I'm out.

Best Wishes.

Chris.

Delivery will be the deciding factor for me.....

Hey there Chris,

I haven't yet decided if i will bid, the final decision is going to come down to freight costs. I'm in the process of finding that out now. I'll do the right thing and let you know if i bid Chris...but i don't want to spend a fortune either.

Regards
Leon
