If you have Frigidaire washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwave ovens or ranges from the seventies, the manuals for your model could be there!

I found the manual for my 1978 microwave oven, 1977 1-18 dryer and for a few 1-18 washer models (but not my exact model) just by entering the two first letters of model numbers. Try with WC, DE, RC, DW... There's even some older stuff like Flair ranges (newer models).

Thanks to people at Electrolux who took the time to scan these manuals!

Frigidaire!

I am really enjoying looking at these manuals. But it makes me sad at the same time that a really great appliance company was flushed down the toilet!

Peter,

Electrolux wasn't the corporation who destroyed Frigidaire. It was done before that by WCI! I'm not saying that they have great products today but at least they still do some following for the old appliances. I recently got spare rollers directly from Electrolux for my 1977 1-18 dryer and not only they were available, they were also quite inexpensive!

GM FRIGIDARE APPLIANCES

GM destroyed Frigidare appliances, WCI only bought the name and the rights to sell replacement parts. They actually only took over the plant that made the Skinny-Mini washer-dryer. GE either closed the others or converted some to making auto parts.

Frigidaire!

Hi Phil I know WCI ruined it and they never should have bought it. The origional plans was to have production moved to a WCI site but that plan was nixed awhile after frigidaire was purchased.
BTW I like your site on Fliker you started. I hope more people observe it.

GM FRIGIDARE APPLIANCES

Sorry my post should have read GM not GE.

WCIs strategy not to try to build the GM Frigidare appliances was very sound, if they would have tried to continue building the same GREAT HIGH QUALITY appliances they would have likely ended up going bankrupt them selves. WCI was coming in as a low cost builder of major appliances, they would have had a very hard time trying to go head to head against WP, KM, MT, GE and hi end brands like Thermador.

IT is ironic that GM Frigidare worst major appliance, the 24" laundry center was the only one that survived in any form under WCI, but WCI went on to make a lot of money off that design and sold several million of them until the cost of the litigation over all the ones that caught fire made them decide to pull the plug on them.

I am not anti GM in anyway they built some of the best cars and appliances ever built. But GM did get too big and the management to bloated and full of itself. As a result they could not adapt to market changes fast enough. The same thing happened to the auto building side of thier empire. But thank that goodness they finely restructured and did what they should have done decades earlier. And they survived thanks in no small part to president Obamas leadership and they are now building some of the best cars in the world. I am looking forward to seeing either Ford or GM again become the largest car maker in the world.
