1990s Unbalanced Kenmore Series 80 help...

I'm about to put this one on the curb!

History of the machine, been in storage since the 90s 96/97? I replaced my modern crap with the matching set and been going on a year. First I noticed the un un un sound like the motor coupler going bad on regular/slow washer but the fast/fast option would get rid of the sound but become unbalanced..I replaced the coupler and the sound went away and slow setting was bearable...but an unbalanced fast rinse/spin still.

All the pads are good, anti skip plate isn't twisted and all balancing springs are intact with out any ovaled holes.

Yesterday I pulled the drum and cleaned the nasty filth from under it n checked the drive block...all though pitted it wasn't worn in the tab area.

I'm at a complete loss...my only other thought is the self leveling rear legs or transmission...

Ideas from anyone else? who may have had a similar experience..

I'm not seeing a problem in the videos.  Are you referring to the slight oscillation of the tub during spin?  That's normal.  I've rarely, if ever, seen a direct-drive empty basket spin 100% steady.

For a DD, this is"normal" for the slight shake during spin.
Nothing to worry about!

How sturdy of a floor do these older Whirlpool/Kenmore direct drives require?

My washer. I bought that in 1999 from Sears Warehouse. Was new floor model. Worked great. Sold it in 2006 when I switched over to a Whirlpool Duet.

What it is, when the washer is full and on high/fast spin and loaded with clothing...the washer basket, hits the case and it just sort of acts like a paint shaker...I need to keep oh? 5-10 inches clearance around the washer or it starts banging into things...I'm thinking the slight osculation while empty is contributing to that? I had an older maytag belt drive, and it never did what this one is doing...

The floor is solid, all new 3/4in plywood

Perhaps a video of the problem occuring while spinning a load will be helpful to further diagnosis and advice.

Well? Here is a video with stuff in it...I "think" I fixed it? or its just behaving now that it knows I'm complaining about it lol I still have the odd osculation but it's done a few loads fine but last night a load with a towel n pair of jeans through it into a fit again....She's such a good washer when she behaves lol

The tub oscillations are well within normal range.  Appears that the floor isn't sturdy enough to hold the machine 100% stable during spin, even the drain standpipe is wiggling.

I agree with Glenn. That looks like the floor isn't solid enough for the spin action. I had the same problem with my Maytag until I moved into the house I'm in now. It shook like crazy during spin in my old house; so bad it would walk around. The floor just couldn't take it. In this house it's smooth as silk.

What kind of floor is it sitting on? Have you looked into those vibration pads? They can help.

we've been working on restoring the house...it's 1890s and wasn't built too great...where it is right now, is temporary, here is the permanent location being built for it...flooring is 3/4" pine T&G on top of sintered 2x8s about near 20" apart...Once I'm done building, I'll have to try some vibration pads..

You also could try to add some foam to the interior of the machine. This should help reduce the noise. I did this with my Squeed Queen TC5.
