Strap in, here we go again, our annual Happy Gay Pride thread. I just want to wish everyone here at AW.org a very safe and happy holiday weekend. While I know every city doesn't celebrate gay pride on this coming weekend, many do because this is the weekend of the anniversary of the Stonewall riots back in 1969. <br
This thread is about sharing your gay pride pictures and stories, and a place for everyone to send their pride wishes. Lets keep this light and funny and happy. I would love to see some pictures posted here of some pride celebrations from many difference places around the globe <br
This weekend Greg from Omaha, Fred from Chicago and Pat from Milwaukee are all heading here to the Twin Cities to celebrate with us. Lots of pictures to come from this weekend, yay I can't wait.

And it wouldn't be pride without showing off big silly posters like this one hanging on a building in Downtown Minneapolis...

I have never been to one, would like to attend the one held in Chicago sometime.

Will be thinking of you all as I work this weekend.

I think Toronto kicks off this weekend as well but won't be going, too too busy for me, they get near a million people I hear. I'll probably go to the smaller and closer one in London Ont in July. Have fun

We had ours a couple of weeks ago in Boston. Its the same ol every year from the go-go boys in speedos to the tired old drag queens with the saggy boobs and of course the beggars aka the churches on how they love everyone. I stood there for 2 hours watching that and all I got was a sunburn on my forehead. I did get to see the governor and his wife with the newly minted lesbian daughter...which was cool. Also Leslie Jordan aka Beverly Leslie from Will and Grace was the Pride Governor or something like that. Then there was the pitiful booths at City Hall Plaza and all I got there was a baseball shirt...I look like Jason Varitek in it...And then there was the drunk fest at the Fritz. They rob ya of 10 bucks to get in and then empty your wallet for everything from 6 dollar a beer to 3 bucks for water and 5 for a burger. I skipped that and came home.

On my way!

Just another hour or so of errands and I'll be on my way to Minneapolis Pride!!!

We'll keep you posted through the weekend with pictures and updates of our antics - Fred Nelson and Pat Froze are coming in tomorrow afternoon so it's going to be a wild weekend!

It had to be around 1982...

I went with my other 1/2 to meet friends for the parade in NYC. We got in late (traffic backup at the tunnel, DUH) then the usual parking nightmare. Saw the tail-end of the parade, then we were walking along Christopher Street around 7:30 pm, which was oddly quiet for some reason (I think we might have had rain at some point). Who comes walking along all by himself, Mayor Ed Koch! He shook hands with the 6 of us and chatted for a moment. I remember thinking afterward, "Tough town - even the mayor doesn't have a date!"

Wow

I had one of those Caddies in the third picture. I loved that car. I really miss driving it. That celebration looks like alot of fun.

I will miss the Pride events this year due to getting some storm damaged repaired around my house. This year it is the first weekend of July in Atlanta. I had a colleague appraoch me and protest it being held on a fourth of July weekend. I blew her away when I informed her it was a time to celebrate freedom for all Americans!

Please send lots of pics everyone!

NYC Gay Pride 1982

"Tough town - even the mayor doesn't have a date!" Lol!

Wow, New York City Gay Pride 1982, that was my very first Gay Pride, I will never forget that wonderful feeling of total freedom. I was 19 years old and living on Christopher Street (114 Christopher right over Ty's) in the heart of the gay village. I marched with a group that I was a member of called GLYNY (Gay/Lesbian Youth of NY). I took many pictures that day, here are just a few...

Well here in Australia our main Gay Pride celebrations will be in Melbourne all of next week with various activities occuring including the annual Queer Collaborations where we get to talk about/protest/bitch/whinge about gay rights and how we could make the gay world better. I'm flying over this saturday night to join the fun and do some sightseeing, going to be an awesome week :-)
