So I got a wild unplanned idea to take a road trip to pick up some washers and dryers and in the process meet some great people and view some beautiful scenery. It was a grueling itinerary as I left on 9-11-21 at 6am and returned on 9-17-21 at 11am. I drove a total of 4252 miles in this time and went through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Nevada, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

I met Ethan(Syber_Collie) and John(oldskool) who were both very nice and very accommodating. Ethan held his black limited edition belt drive for me and John was very generous of his time on short notice and I did come home with the platinum whirlpool set and a ‘68 Kenmore 800 set in copper tone that I had to twist his arm pretty hard to let them go.

Thanks to CottonCandy80 for posting the black limited edition belt drive set in Arizona and Jon(Oliger) for posting the stow away Norge set in Missouri.

My plan is to do a post on each of these but I’m not sure when as I now have quite a backlog with work because of my journey which was a lot of fun especially meeting Ethan and John.

Next came Missouri for the Norge stow away set. I didn’t see the reduced $25 price tag for these until the last minute so an added surprise for sure. Nice folks said they had been in storage for probably the last 30 years.

And on to John’s(oldskool) house for 4 more machines which were completely unexpected as I was sure they were all gone by now but it must be my lucky year.

First up the platinum whirlpool pair in gas.

Melvin, wow!! I'm glad ou got to meet Oldschool. He's a supper nice guy, I remember seeing the fs dispenser peeking out from the top of the Norge. I hope you got it. I will have to be honest, I'm not sure what the impact of the three buttons has on what happens with the timer sequence/speeds

For the Kenmore, friends of my parents had the exact set in coppertone from brand new, just didn't know it was an 800. What about the dial for the dryer? Also, there's no specification for a timer letter for the rinse portion of the spin only H cycle. I'm assuming that might be a cold prewash. It's a shame Sears didn't specify that as a Lettered cycle too.

Congratulations on the rest!!!

Wow!

Now that’s what I call a road trip! Congratulations man, the 800’s in copper tone really does it for me, glad you got to go on a bit of an adventure and meet a few people on the way! Best of luck with these beautiful machines.

Thanks guys! Bob the fabric softener dispenser is indeed there on the Norge and a 30 year old ball of lint is still in the filter pan. Lol! I have the kenmore dryer dial but it needs some repair.
