$25 OBO Vintage DE 300 Maytag dryer - works great! - $25 (Rochester, MN)

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

At $25..why is this dryer still for sale?

Were these dryers known for poor performance? I'm a little surprised that it's not gone for only $25.

Or is the washer difficult to find or it too was considered a poor performer?

Just asking - looks like a very nice unit.

These HOH dryers have fairly small drums.  Unless you had the matching washer, which would have a standard capacity (aka small) tub, this dryer would be too small.  A full load from a washer with a larger tub would be too big to dry effectively in such a small drum.  This might be why the machine seems to be a hard sell.

Any standard tub Maytag washer produced from the '50s through the '80s could serve as a companion to this dryer.

Thanks Ralph...could then see a pair needed and that's not your aversge buyer. People were much smaller and wore fewer clothes when these were made. lol. But maybe large items were still popularly line-dried?Anyway..still has classic lines.

A member actually has this dryer as part of matched set.

It is from the 1960's and no, persons weren't that much smaller. *LOL*

These were "Super Highlander" washers and dryers.

Maytag washers from what one understands never were big on "extra large capacity". If by large items you mean blankets or some such, that wouldn't likely pose an issue. Things like a duvet or pillows OTOH probably are another matter.

If am correct that dryer can be wired for both 120v and 220v. If one had the room it would make a nice replacement for the compact Whirlpool. That bit of extra room in drum would make doing larger items like linens a snap.
