How close are we to realizing unavailable and/or out-of -stock parts for vintage machines? I have a couple of parts that I've been looking for for years only to be told, in every case, they are no longer available ("oh, you shoulda been here last week; I just took twelve boxes of those to the dump!")

All you need is a CAD model

And places like Shapeways.com can custom print your design in many different colors and materials, including metal and ceramics. We've used them for work before with good results.
