I don't think it makes much difference actually. These days most items seem to be rated at 120 volts 60 Hz here in the US. But in the past many items were rated as "110-120 volts 50-60 Hz" or "110 volts 50 Hz / 120 volts 60 Hz"

or in the old days before metric they called it "cycles" or "CPS" (cycles per second).

small Turkish made sewage treatment plant installed at local golf course had 230 50hz,1450 rpm 1.5 hp motor-worked fine on 60 hz US power.European 230/50 hz equipment usually works good on 60 hz,but Australian 240v/50 hz can be trouble for 230v/60 hz motors and transformers with oversaturation and overheating-depending on how close to the edge the design of the connected 60hz equipment is.

Yeah, one thing I know is that most 50 Hz things

Are very much happy when running on 60 Hz, so my question is why can’t all motors be made to 1 standard and just changing the amount of windings for the voltage? So that means if the motor is rated for 120 V at 50 Hz it can also run on the 120 V 60 Hz, as I know the reverse is sadly not compatible, I have learnt that through multiple experiences and it’s not fun
