Universal ranges are not so well known as is Tappan, etc., but were attractive and well designed. Some friends of mine had a slightly later model and more deluxe with a "roastmaster menu guide" and a griddle in the middle. It was one beautiful stove. Also the ovens had windows in them. I came across a pic of one somewhere, but maybe I will find and post it.

I've often wondered if the "Universal" part of "Waste King Universal" waws actually this appliance brand bought out by Waste King. After all, WK did have gas cooking appliances as well as dishwashers & disposers.

I do like old gas ranges and have seen many if not most makes. this is actually a mid to late 50,s universal model. Bob I'm not sure if there is a relation to WKU or not. The Univ stove company has been out of businees or bought out by another. About 1960 I believe.
