Hey gang? Do you like General Motors Frigidaire appliances? YES!
Do YOU own a General Motors Frigidaire appliance? Or two? Or twelve? YES!
If so, we need you! I am working on a project to decipher GM Frigidaire SERIAL numbers for all types of appliances and of all ages - Washers, Dryers, Dishwashers, Ranges, Fridges, Ironers, Dehumidifiers, etc. You name it, I want it.
Here's what I'm looking for. If you have access to a camera, take a shot of the model tag of your Frigidaire appliance, and post it here! Early washers have the serial number stamped in the model tag on the back of the machine. Later, the serial number is not stamped on the model tag and is hidden under the washer top (early 60's), or hidden along the bottom of the front edge (1964), or thrown on a tag along the side of the appliance (mid to late 60's). By the 1-18 era, the serial number is restored back to the model tag along the top of the control panel.
YOU DON'T have access to a camera? NO worry! Just take a moment to record the following:
<ul>
<li>Model number and type - washer, dryer, fridge, range, etc.</li>
<li>The approx. year of MFG (if known) </li>
<li>The SERIAL number of the appliance (most important part) </li>
<li>And, the color of the appliance </li>
</ul>
You may ask, what am I going to do with this information? I'm gathering as many GM serial numbers as possible to better understand the possible logic used by Frigidaire throughout the years. This isn't meant to become a registry of Frigidaire appliances, but instead to better understand what information is able to be extracted from the model/serial number. I will share my findings with everyone once the analysis is complete. In fact, we may even be able to solve the riddle together as a group!
If you don't feel comfortable posting here but you want to participate, please feel free to shoot me a PM through the AW email, or shoot me an email: bswestka at gmail.com.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's TAGS! Let's have fun with this!
Ben
