50yrs of Stonewall, Hoover Washers & Pride 2019

What a great weekend it was, I am always keeping my fingers crossed that it will at least be dry, but it was almost too hot at the weekend and we all had to attend to wearing sun block to avoid sun burn.

Thanks to all for making it such a fun weekend with lots of useful work done too and thanks again to Mike to documenting it all so it is not just committed to memory but others can share the machines and the fun.

John, it would be great to see you over here again so hopefully we shall have the pleasure of your company in 2020. And that invitation goes to others too - both within the UK and outside. We had two new faces this weekend and we look forward to seeing them again in the future.

Here's looking forward to the next one :)

It looks like everyone had a great time in celebrating the holiday, love all the shirts with the pride look, especially the balloons on one of the Welsh Wales Boys, nice and simple and straight to the point. Happy Holidays to all.

Fantastic thread Mike

some brilliant photos of us all here Mike, thanks everyone for making it such a great weekend. Love my confused expressions in reply#65 looking into the hoovermatic washtub, "what no agitator, how's that supposed to work, won't it just tangle things up" ? lol.

Great to, to celebrate ourselves and join with the many pride events on at this time.

Mathew

amazing pics of a great weekend

Thanks for this fabulous documentary Mike; its especially good for those of us who couldn't do the whole weekend to see what we missed too.

thanks for everyone for making me so welcome as one of the new faces too.

Looking forward to the next one.

Fab thread Mike and some great colourful pictures of a lovely pride weekend. Love the one in reply 58 where Richard is being a geisha girl and nearly knocking me out with the patio brolly! Great to be able to work on some of these old machines and learn new techniques from each other.

S :)

BTW Mathew - you look like you are trying to undertake sabotage to that Hoovermatic! (Not that you would)

Great thread, thank you all

Looks like an amazing time was had by all, some wonderful machines there, brought back a lot of memories. Especially the twin tubs, my mum had a Hoover, next door had a Servis and across the road a hotpoint. I use to wish my mum had the agitator in hers (rather than the pulsator), it looked much more fun!

Great to see all the Pride emblems.

Al, I’d love to come to your next one. Thanks Mike for capturing the event, always you do a great post.

Cheers, Alan

Yes, great thread!

Thank's Mike!
I visited the Stonewall inn in June of 1985. In case anyone is unaware, the NY city police raided the bar, and a dozen if not 13 people were beaten up by them and carted off to jail. I think a couple may have died of their injuries, not certain.
Need to fact check, Been a while since I've read it.
That sparked the equality movement. Next was the Harvey Milk, and Mayor Moscone murder by the former city super or councilman in 1977 in San Francisco. meanwhile, singer Anita Bryant was voicing opposition to us all along with Jerry Falwell sr. and his moral majority. He had later been found to have been with at least one Hooker.

Plus more fun than

taking the ferry from Wisconsin to Michigan (John L) "combo 52" to visit friends and repair a vintage dishwasher, but close! You and car ride on top of the ferry.

Mike: great job documenting another wonderful wash-in expertly hosted by Al
