Wow! You really did a great job Chris!

Can we see some pictures of it in action? Also, what agitator does it have?

OMG, that is Just Beautiful Chris!

WOW Chris, it looks brand new, factory fresh, right out of the crate! Did you paint the cabinet? How about a picture of the interior.

Thanks for sharing that beautiful machine.

thanks but your to sweet

she looks as good as its gonna get the orig finish was in good shape but really yellowed i think from coal dust in the basement the insides were covered in thick black dust i just use that appliance epoxy spray and it usually does a great job the agitator seems tiny to me but it does the job just have to find something to wash ha ha thanks for being so kind always chris

Well, just to inform you, the first Kenmore/Whirlpool washer designs used a black 3-vane straight agitator (like this one), then Whirlpool started using the Surgilator and Kenmore started using the Roto-Swirl; this happened in the early 50's.

If you've washed anything yet, how's the turnover?

turn over

personally i think the turn over is wonderful. but it has a slower spin speed sort of like the maytag, but it still gets the jobe done. the booklet that came with the machine says it will do a 9 pound load, and im thinking that was an avg size load for the time. the tub seems pretty big. ill do a load for ya as soon as i have more stuff to wash. maybe ill give the dog a bath just so ill have towels to wash. ha ha

now she wants to be a bad girl

things always happen when i get bored. decided to give her something to do and all was fine till the rinse cycle on the second load. seems this girl has a mind of her own too. now she wants to agitate and spin at the same time. bad girl. now im not sure if she had a bad solenoid or maybe timer problems. my bet is a solenoid but where can i find a used one of those???

Usually washing and spinning at the same time is a wig wag problem. Maybe a broken pin on one of the plungers. If I am not mistaken I think a new style wig wag Kit will fit. It may look different but will probably work. The old whirlpools I have seen have a wig wag with large diameter plungers. The new style kit should replace it. I don't recall any that might be oddball but it is possible. If this is the whirlpool design that has the pump with the shift arm and not the one driven by the belt, check that the pump arm moves freely.

hey fixerman

the pump seems to be fine. on spin the basket spins with no agitate. but on wash or rinse the agitator goes and the basket spins. everything looks ok in there to me but this setup is also very new to me also. i cleaned the flat rods thinking they were sticking. this machine will be a teacher for me just like the maytag and the laundromat were last year. so im just gonna ask what the heck is a wig wag??

The wig wag is just another name for the double solenoid assembly. Funny, I had the same question when I first started repairing washers in 1966.
Look to see if the clutch is adjusted incorrectly. The best way to check this is to lay the machine down on the it's front for easy access. Rotate trans pulley while pushing up on the SPIN plunger. Keep rotating until the cam bar reaches the end of it's travel. Then look at the clutch. The space between the clutch pulley and the pad should about the thickness of a dime. If it is not, adjust the adjusting nut until you have about this thickness.
Good Luck.

waggin the wig

oh i see easy for you to say ha ha. ill give this a shot tomorrow. the washer came with a parts book that sort of helps me when lookin for something. this whole machine is new to me so its just a little confusing and scary. but im sure ill get over it and just dive right on in. thanks for the info ill give it a shot in the morning.

Timer pic?

Could we get a close up shot of the timer dial? I imagine it has two cycles, on and off. Would love to see more pics...
