Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so very much. I see mine was made in January of 1948. You are a wealth of knowledge my friend !!

Thanks, Mark!

Apparently, that list on the Maytag Collector's Club website is not entirely accurate! Geoff must have more pages of that manual, as I believe he dated my Model 30 as August 1935, and my E2LP as December 1977.

It's great knowing exactly when your particular machine came out of the factory!

Starting in January of 1954, wringers used a standardized serial number scheme, with two letters after the production number. The First letter indicated the year, and the second the month.

Please note - this list DIFFERS from the automatic codes of 1949 - 1965.

Year Code Month
1954 A January
1955 C February
1956 E March
1957 G April
1958 J May
1959 L June
1960 N July
1961 P August
1962 R September
1963 T October
1964 V November
1965 X December

While this is all fine and dandy, I don't believe anyone has found what they did exactly in 1953, as the data that Mark provided above came from the Maytag Conventional Washers, Volume 2 booklet, which doesn't call out anything for 1953, at least not that I recall. If anyone owns this book, can you confirm?

Starting in 1966, all wringers followed the automatic serial codes up until 1983. Unfortunately, the serial stamping of some of the 80's Model E2's is very faint and sometimes hard to read.

Ben
