1. Its not a 1934 model, it is a late 40s to early 50s.

2. If it is not restored, they bring under $500 on ebay.

3. You can get a professionally restored one for $2500-$5000.

4. It is not "One Of A Kind"

5. There is one 5 miles from me in as good, if not better, shape for $300

6. Is this a joke?

And at that price....

...they could afford to ship a Foodarama and still make money.

If that thing sells, my mother will spin in her grave. She hated Tappan appliances. And I don't mean just hate, I mean HATE!

Like when our Tappan double-oven was replaced (Early 70's model) Dad suggested donating it to Goodwill. Mom said no, and made him tear it to bits in the garage, retorting "I will not inflict that POS on the poor and underprivileged."

I had one

in my basement apartment in college.
POS is putting it gently.

John,I fully understand your poor mother. Good for her.

Tappan is one of the few brands I can think of which got better through the years (at least for a while). Were they bought by someone in the 1950's?

As for the price, well, that is at the high end of what the professional restorers ask for completely re-enameled, totally renewed (as in the gas systems are brought up to date) units.

People like that are beyond belief. They see sites like this one and think we really are that dumb.

Yeah, they get on a restored appliance website and get all gaga with dollar signs in their eyes. It doesn't occur to them that some of these places have had their overpriced merchandise listed for years because no one in their right mind would pay their prices.

So it'll languish on E-Bay with no bids until they wake-up and lower the price to something realistic.

Oy.

"For that much money it should have free shipping and include a matching Kelvinator Foodarama!"

And a KitchenAid KD-10 dishwasher, a matched pair of early-'50s Kenmore laundry appliances, and a round-tube colour TV.
